Punjab University seminar to upgrade commerce syllabus

LAHORE:10 May: Keeping in view growing trend of commerce education among students, there is a need to upgrade commerce syllabus to bring it in line with international standards. This was consensus among speakers at a seminar jointly organised by Mir Khalilur Rahman Memorial Society (Jang Group of Newspapers) and Hailey College of Commerce, University of the Punjab.

PUNJAB University E-Lane system

LAHORE:May 8:PUNJAB University (PU) Vice- Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad on Tuesday laid foundation stone of E-Lane system at the university’s Gate No-1 for enhanced security on campus and smooth entry and exit of vehicles. Briefing on the occasion, Chief Engineer Faizul Hasan Sipra said the E-Lane would consist of five lanes at the estimated cost of Rs9.8million. He said the project would be completed within 45 days on fasttrack basis. He said Rs1.28 million had been saved to the university exchequer.The news.

Art show at Punjab University’s College of Art and Design

LAHORE:May 5: Punjab University’s College of Art and Design opened a group show ‘Canvas & Colleagues’ with a public reception in the college. This exclusive exhibition features the works of faculty members of past and present times and traces the journey of art and artists from 1940’s till today. The displayed work has been grouped in to three sections; early years (1940-1960), formative era (1960-1980) and the contemporary trends (1980-Today).

BISE arrangements for Intermediate Annual Exams

Lahore:May 4: Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has completed arrangements for Intermediate Annual Examinations 2019 starting from May 06. A spokesperson for BISE said the board had set up 577 examination centers for 360,000 candidates appearing in the exams from Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Nankana Sahib. The Intermediate part-II exams would be held in the first phase from May 06 to May 21 while in the second phase part-I examination would be held from May 22 to June 12.The news.

Punjab University employees promoted

LAHORE :May 4: On the directions of Punjab University (PU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad, 1,800 employees from grade 1 to 15 who have been awaiting their promotions for decades have got promotion to the next grade. A ceremony was organised for the promoted employees at the university on Friday. Prof Niaz Ahmad, Registrar Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan, Hall Council Chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Abid Hussain Chaudhary, Resident Officer-I Malik Muhammad Zaheer, RO-II Jalil Tariq, Treasurer Rao Muhammad Tahir and Chief Engineer Faiz-ul-Hassan Sipra were also present.

Punjab University CEMB two-day hands-on training workshop

Lahore:01 May: Punjab University’s Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) organised two-day hands-on training workshop titled “CRISPR/ Genome Editing Technology”. Dr Tayyab Husnain, CEMB Director, researchers and participants from different national institutes of Multan, Faisalabad, Quetta, AJK, Bahawalpur and Lahore were present. Dr Abdul Qayyum Rao from CEMB and Khayam Javed from the Gurdon Institute University of the Cambridge, UK delivered lectures about CRISPR technology and its implications. Their talks were followed by hands-on sessions on designing of CRISPR construct.

Punjab University book fair

LAHORE:23 April: A draw for allocation of stalls for Pakistan’s largest book fair to be held at Punjab University (PU) New Campus admin block cricket ground has been held in which national and international level book sellers participated. The book fair will be organised from April 25 to 27. According to a press release, Convener of Publishers/Book Sellers Liaison Committee Prof Dr Fakhar-ul-Haq Noori chaired a meeting regarding the draw for the allotment of book stalls in which 136 stalls have been allocated.The news.

Punjab University NH&MP jointly launched “Road Safety campaign

Lahore:17 April:Punjab University (PU) and National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) jointly launched “Road Safety on Wheel” campaign here on Tuesday to create awareness among the people about their safe travel. PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad, NH&MP DIG Ahmad Arsalan Malik and other officials were present on the occasion. Under the campaign, road safety awareness messages were displayed on all PU buses.

PU teacher gets contempt notice for arrested Teacher

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued a contempt of court notice to a Punjab University (PU) teacher and got her arrested after she started crying loudly during the hearing of a case disrupting the court proceedings. Ms Khujista Rehan, an assistant professor, had been in litigation with her fellow teachers at the university accusing them of running a vilification campaign against her in a Whatsapp group.
