LAHORE:22 November:Participants in a mid-term review workshop for the Improving Workforce Readiness in Punjab Project noted that the technical vocational education and training sector needed to perform significantly better to support the economy's competitiveness and inclusive economic growth through the supply of skilled workers. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is in the process of preparing a $100 million loan, which aims to help the government of Punjab to achieve Punjab Growth Strategy 2023 objectives by supporting the strengthening of the TVET sector.
LAHORE:21 November: There is a need for creating awareness regarding smog so that citizens could be saved from its bad effects on health, said Environmental Protection Department (EPD) Director Naseemur Rehman. He stated this while addressing a seminar on smog organised by Centre for Coal Technology (CCT) at the Punjab University (PU). Addressing the seminar, the EPD director said that the provincial government had launched an aggressive campaign to cope with issue of smog and conducted the campaign with the collaboration of kiln and factory owners.

The programmes include PhD Anatomy, PhD Community Medicine, PhD Biochemistry, MPhil Community Medicine, MPhil Public Health, Masters in Public Health and MD Hematology.
Lahore:13 November: Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi, the Vice Chancellor of Government College University (GCU) Lahore, has met Pakistani Ambassador to USA Dr Asad Majeed Khan at Washington, DC and sought his support and facilitation for establishing research and academic linkages with the top American universities. According to a press release issued by the university on Tuesday, the Vice Chancellor was on a three-day trip to America where he was invited by the US National Academy of Medicine to address a workshop on Social, Behavioral, & Environmental Enablers for Healthy Longevity.
LAHORE:13 November:The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has constituted a fact finding committee to probe into the allegations of irregularities in the Foreign Faculty Hiring Programme (FFHP) at GCU Lahore’s Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences. According to a press release, the committee will also review the operation of FFHP at other universities. The three-member committee will probe the matter and will submit its recommendation to the competent authority within one month.

The Higher Education Department has issued notifications after the approval of Chancellor and Punjab Governor in this regard. Dr Ahmad Adnan, Professor of Chemistry, has been appointed as Dean, Faculty of Chemistry and Life Sciences while Dr Riaz Ahmad, Professor of Physics, as Dean, Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences.The news.

LAHORE:09 November:Punjab Minister for Literacy and Non-Formal Education Rashid Hafeez has said that the Punjab government provided increased resources to modernise the non-formal education sector and added that every possible effort would be made to achieve the goal of 100 per cent literacy by the year 2030. While chairing a meeting of university professors about new interventions in literacy and basic education sector at a private institution of higher education, the minister briefed about the steps taken by the Punjab government in this regard.
LAHORE:09 November:University of Health Sciences (UHS), Friday, issued the first selection list of candidates admitted to MBBS and BDS programme in public sector medical and dental colleges of the Punjab. The last merit for MBBS remained 91.5455 and that for BDS 93.5000 per cent. Last year, this merit was 89.1485 and 89.0455 per cent respectively. The merit has been calculated as per the weightage formula of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), adding 50 percent of intermediate and 50 percent of admission test marks.
