Lahore:20 April:Punjab University (PU) has announced All Pakistan Online Qirat and Na’at competition in which people from every nook and corner of the country can participate. On the directions of PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad, heads of various departments are launching online competitions of co-curricular and sports activities and offering free online courses in order to provide a platform to all Pakistanis to engage themselves in positive activities at home under prevailing situation.
LAHORE:19 April: Punjab University (PU)’s Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAGS) on Friday organised an online training session on ‘Food Safety and Dietary Guidelines’. IAGS Director Dr Muhammad Saleem Haider, Food Science and Technology Coordinator Dr Shinawar Waseem Ali, Dr Rizwan Tariq and other food experts addressed a large number of people who participated in the online training session.
LAHORE :19 April: The Biosafety Level-3 Laboratory for Emerging Pathogens of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore has begun conducting diagnostic tests for coronavirus (Covid-19). The UVAS lab has successfully processed the first batch of 205 coronavirus suspected samples received from Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department. UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad visited the laboratory, inspected the testing process and appreciated Prof Dr Tahir Yaqub, chairman, Department of Microbiology, and his team for their contribution to the noble cause.
LAHORE :19 April: University of Engineering and Technology (UET) has launched the first phase of the Online-cum-Distance Learning (ODL) program in the wake of lockdown due to Covid-19 and during this phase, classes will be conducted for the final semester undergraduate students only.
LAHORE :19 April: During a meeting with Punjab Governor/University of Engineering and Technology Chancellor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, UET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar along with university’s Textile Engineering Department Faisalabad Campus Chairman and Project Head Dr Mohsin presented a cheque for over Rs 2.55 million from faculty, officers and staff of the university as a donation to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for Covid-19.
Lahore:18 April:Punjab University (PU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad has instructed the official concerned to make necessary arrangements for payment of salaries and pensions to in-service and retired employees on April 23, 2020. According to a press release, the daily wages employees will also get their salary without any deduction as they have assigned duties during this period. Prof Niaz issued these instructions in the wake of the upcoming holy month of Ramazan under the prevailing situation of lockdown due to coronavirus.

LAHORE:16 April:Punjab University will establish Bio-Safety Level-3 (BSL-3) laboratory to do research on various aspects of Covid-19. PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad said that the laboratory would be set up at the Centre for Applied Molecular Biology (CAMB) on war footings. He said that the university administration would provide the most advanced and state-of-the-art technical equipment to the scientists to work on Covid-19. He said that the latest safety gadgets and related material would be provided to researchers and lab staff in order to provide them a safe environment.

LAHORE :12 April: For the first time in the history of University of Engineering and Technology (UET), the UET Entrance Test will be held online this year, immediately at the end of the intermediate theory examinations of second year. According to a press release, UET has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Virtual University of Pakistan to conduct the entrance test on the designated VU Campuses in Punjab.
LAHORE:11April :In the wake of coronavirus outbreak, Government College University (GCU) Lahore has arranged its first online viva of a PhD candidate of Political Science, Ms Sadia Rafiq, who completed her research on the topic related to Sunni minorities in Iran. An external examiner, Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid, the Dean, Faculty of Behavioral & Social Sciences at Punjab University Lahore, conducted the PhD viva via Skype, while another examiner, Prof Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed Chaudhry, the former Dean of Bahauddin Zakria University Multan, was present in person at the GC University campus.

GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi, Additional Secretary (Development) Primary and Secondary Health Care Department Umer Farooq and district administration officers were also present on the occasion.
LAHORE:10 April:Technical and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) has gone digital for the first time in its history by launching e-learning programme under the banner of Khushhal Programme Pakistan . This was stated by Tevta chairperson Ali Salman Siddique while launching E-Commerce Specialist Course (ESC) here on Thursday. As many as 500 students would be offered admission to the free online ESC with the collaboration of Paigham-e- Pakistan, an NGO, and Women Development Department.
