PHC issued an advisory to dental practitioners for avoiding spread of coronavirus

Lahore:25 March: The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has issued an advisory to the dental practitioners across the province to adopt maximum precautionary measures for avoiding the spread of the coronavirus. The PHC has instructed the dental surgeons to plan visits of their patients in such a way that there is no over-crowding, and display coronavirus-related information material at their clinics. Moreover, dental surgeons have been asked to encourage their patients not to visit clinics unless there is an unavoidable emergency.

Judges visit King Edward Medical University

LAHORE:12 February:The newly-promoted additional district and session judges visited King Edward Medical University (KEMU) on Tuesday as part of their training. A batch of about 36 newly-promoted additional and district session judges under the chairmanship of Punjab Judicial Academy director general visited Department of Forensic Medicine at KEMU, Lahore, as part of their training on medico-legal work. They observed three medico-legal autopsies.

Trauma life support course held in CPSP

LAHORE:10 February:The Advance Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course was held under the auspices of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) under directorship of National Residency Programme Prof Mahmood Ayyaz. The international-recognised course is now available for local Pakistani doctors for their capacity building. CPSP has now introduced the latest 10th edition of the course in the country. Pakistan is the first country in the South Asian region which had done so.

PMDC admission regulations restored

LAHORE :22 October:A Lahore High Court division bench on Monday suspended a decision of a single bench and restored admission regulations-2019 framed by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC). A single bench comprising Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti had on October 14 set aside the 2019 admission regulations and ruled that the PMDC had not been vested with any power under its Ordinance 2019 as it then was to amend the protected regulations, 2018.

Dental education to be promoted in country: Yasmin

LAHORE:04 October:Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Thursday said measures would be taken for promotion of dental education in Pakistan and quality education would be ensured in dental medical institutions. The minister said this while addressing the participants in the conference. organised by University of Health Sciences. Cardiac Centre: Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has said the Punjab Health Department will provide financial assistance to Balochistan Cardiac Centre.

Minister lauds King Edward Medical University for tree plantation

LAHORE:05 August: Following the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and on the instructions of Punjab Health Minister Prof Dr Yasmin Rashid, King Edward Medical University organised a ceremony in connection with its tree plantation campaign on its New Campus on Mureedke-Narowal Road. State Minister for Climate Change Mrs Zartaj Gul was the chief guest of the event. Prof M Haroon Hamid, project director, New Campus, KEMU and KEMU Green Task Force Chairman Prof Dr Zahid Kammal Sadique welcomed the guests.

Fatima Jinnah Medical University Farewell

LAHORE :14 July: Fatima Jinnah Medical University former VC Prof Javed Gardezi Saturday said competent and capable teachers were the pride of any society and students should respect them. He said to be a doctor was to choose a noble profession and while following Prof Mohammad Tayyab, it was more important to work with zeal and fervor as he taught his students with the same spirit. He said this while addressing a farewell party held at Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences in honor of Prof Tayyab, who retired as principal of PGMI/AMC/LGH after completing his service.

King Edward Medical University achievements highlighted

LAHORE:02 April: The 2nd annual gala dinner of KE alumni was held here at Library Hall of King Edward Medical University, Lahore. Prof Kh Sadiq Husain, ex-principal KEMC, senior teacher and mentor and Prof Tariq Iqbal Bhutta, president of PM&DC, were the chief guests. The alumni honoured ex-principal KEMC and ex-president CPSP Prof Ijaz Ahsan with lifetime achievement award.

Sports Gala of Ameer Uddin Medical College

LAHORE :10 March: Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Principal Prof Muhammad Tayyab called upon the need to encourage sports activities especially in medical institutions. Addressing the concluding ceremony of the seventh Annual Sports Gala of Ameer Uddin Medical College here at National Stadium, the PGMI principal lauded the performance of Ameer Uddin Medical College Sports Society for holding such extensive sports activities in which more than 400 students, doctors, nurses and other staff participated.
