Varsities power shift: Solar energy to save Rs256 million annually

LAHORE:20 February: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar on Wednesday said 10 major universities of the province, including Punjab University, will be switched over to solar energy in the first phase of a scheme, saving Rs256 million annually. “A total of Rs6.41 billion will be saved in 25 years,” he said during a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony held at Governor House. The Department of Energy and Punjab University signed the MoU under the project to convert all public sector universities to solar energy on the occasion.

Punjab University rally expresses solidarity with China

Lahore:11 February:Punjab University Punjab University along with Chinese students have expressed solidarity with China and its people coping with coronavirus. In this regard, a rally was taken out by PU Department of Political Science in which the participants were carrying placards inscribed with “We Stand with China”. Department of Political Science Chairperson Prof Dr Iram Khalid, Prof Dr Rana Ejaz, Dr Shabbir Ahmad Khan, students of the department and Chinese students of the university participated in the rally.

Punjab University seminar

LAHORE:04 February:A seminar on “Awareness Raising Sessions on Safe, Informed and Legal Migration” was held at the Punjab University’s Department of Gender Studies (DGS). The speaker, Rana Imran Arshad, informed the students that there were six types of visas which could be applied to enter into any foreign country. He said in Pakistan, 90pc visa applicants were the one who go overseas for work, 7pc for studies and 3pc sought permanent migration. The department’s faculty members and students attended the seminar.The news.

Punjab University to receive online forms of affiliated colleges

LAHORE:04 February:For the first time Punjab University (PU) Examinations Department will receive admission forms of students of affiliated colleges online in various degrees. The measure has been taken on the directions of PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad to facilitate students and administrative staff of affiliated colleges, who had to visit the university’s New Campus for this purpose from various parts of the country.

Punjab University student picked up by 'unidentified men

Lahore: 31 January:A Punjab University MPhil student who was allegedly picked up by "unidentified men" in Lahore early on Thursday morning has returned home, his family said. Mohsin Abdali, who is completing his MPhil in Agricultural Sciences at the university, was allegedly abducted by unidentified men from his residence in Lahore. An initial report of the incident, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, was submitted by Abdali's family to Baghbanpura police station for the offence of kidnapping.

Punjab University organised an awareness workshop

Lahore:24 January: The faculty members and students at Punjab University’s Centre for Clinical Psychology (CCP) taking initiative for promotion of mental health organised an awareness workshop on “De-stressing the Stress” here on Thursday. The students from various universities in Lahore also participated in the event. Clinical psychologists briefed the audience about the stress, its impact on daily routine and the various techniques to manage it.The news.

PU schedule for submission of admission forms for BA/BSc Annual Exam

Lahore:22 January: Punjab University (PU) has issued the schedule for submission of admission forms and fee for Associate Degree Arts/Science and BA/BSc Annual Examination 2020. The last date of submission of admission forms for Associate Degree in Arts/Science Part-I (for the candidates who passed Intermediate Examination in Supplementary Examination 2019), Associate Degree in Science, Special Categories (MBBS, BDS, Pharm-D, and General Nursing) and BA/BSc (Composite/Improve Division) is Feb 12, 2020 while the forms can be submitted with double fee till Feb 17.

Punjab University, US university sign MoU to promote education

LAHORE:16 January:Punjab University and Michigan State University (MSU), the US, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote education and training with regard to the psychiatric and psychological issues of students. The MoU signing ceremony was held at Vice Chancellor’s Office in which PU VC Prof Niaz Ahmad, MSU’s Assistant Prof Dr Farha Abbasi, Faculty of Life Sciences Dean Prof Dr Firdaus-e-Bareen, External Linkages Director Dr Sobia Khuram and Institute of Applied Psychology (IAP) Associate Professor Dr Rafia Rafique were also present.

Punjab University associate degree

Lahore:16 January:According to the recommendations of Academic Council, Punjab University Syndicate has approved that candidates of MBBS, BDS, Pharm D and general nursing will have to attempt the subject of BSc English only for associate degree in science. Therefore, the candidates can register themselves for associate degree in science with single fee i.e. 3,720 till January 27, 2020. Details are available at the PU website www.pu.edu.pk.The news.

Punjab University MA MSc Exam Schedule

Lahore:14 January:Punjab University (PU) Examinations Department has issued the schedule of admission fee and forms for MA/MSc, Part-I and Part-II, Annual Examinations 2020. According to the details, for regular candidates, the last date for submission of MA/MSc, Part-I admission forms with single fee is 5-3-2020 (by post) and 12-3-2020 (by hand) while the forms can be submitted with double fee till 10-3-2020 (by post) and 17-3-2020 (by hand).

PUnjab University syndicate approves several appointments,

LAHORE:05 January: A meeting of Punjab University (PU) Syndicate held on Saturday took up a number of important agenda items, including the proceedings of the selection board and appointment of directors/chairpersons of the university’s different colleges, institutes and departments. The PU Syndicate’s 1734th meeting was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar in which remuneration for heads of teaching departments was also increased from the existing Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000.
