LAHORE:04 September: In order to welcome its new class, LUMS organised orientation week activities recently. According to a press release issued on Tuesday, the week started with a welcome session held at LUMS Syed Maratib Ali Sports Complex where 2,700 students, their parents, guests and faculty members were in attendance. The entire LUMS community got together to welcome the new class to the campus.

LAHORE:10 April: A large number of women students of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) protested against their male class fellows for posting derogatory and sexist remarks on social networking sites. The female students also boycotted classes and held a sit-in outside the university’s Office of Students Affairs. They shouted slogans against the students involved in the incident. The girls demanded that the university administration take strict action against their class fellows as the incident has not only damaged their reputation, but also tarnished the image of LUMS.
LAHORE:06 March: The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) ranked number one in two subjects by the QS World University Rankings for 2019. According to a press release issued Tuesday, they are Business and Management Studies as well as Economics and Econometrics. LUMS has also achieved a rank between 3 and 5 in Computer Science and Information Systems (3rd); Electrical and Electronic Engineering (4th) and Physics and Astronomy (5th).
LAHORE :21 November: Lahore Open Day 2018 hosted by Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) got an overwhelming response and many aspiring students along with their parents filled the campus. The day served as a great opportunity for prospective applicants to network with the faculty and alumni to get a real feel for the university. LAHORE:October 27: Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) jumped eight places to make it to the top 100 educational institutions in Asia, according to the QS World University Rankings Asia 2019. LUMS is now ranked at 95 in Asia and at the 41st place regionally. Since 2014, LUMS has moved up 4 times. Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) University Rankings are one of most prestigious and recognised international university rankings in the world.The news.
LAHORE:October 25: Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) held a series of workshops and mini-courses in collaboration with the recently established National Agriculture Robotics Lab (NCRA) and the Centre of Water Informatics (WIT). The series of workshops and mini-courses, held in collaboration with LUMS Department of Electrical Engineering, were funded by the German Academic Exchange (DAAD) along with Competitive International Grants won from Global IEEE Control Systems Society Outreach Fund. Over 600 participants joined the events from across Pakistan.
Lahore:10 October:Easypaisa, Pakistan’s first digital payments platform launches “Easypaisa QR” the first of its kind cashless payment system – in more than 137 educational institutes across Pakistan. Some of the prominent universities where the Easypaisa QR payments systems have been successfully deployed are Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), National University of Science & Technology (NUST), FAST National University, Karachi University & Punjab Group of Colleges.
LAHORE :28 June: A health and wellness centre was inaugurated at the Lahore University of Management Sciences for entire LUMS community on Wednesday. According to a press release issued here, earlier Prof Dr S. Sohail H. Naqvi on behalf of LUMS had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a hospital to develop and operate a health and wellness centre on the university’s premises for the provision of emergency medical services to all the members of the LUMS community.
LAHORE:May 18: The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Lahore Chapter, hosted another Talk “The Clans We Lead” with Dr Amjad Saqib – CEO of Akhuwat, at NIC Lahore, LUMS. TiE Lahore Chapter started in 2002 with efforts of Syed Babar Ali and has gradually come to a point where it has some of the best mentors to guide and facilitate the growth process of Entrepreneurs.
LAHORE:31 March: Over the course of this year, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and World Bank Pakistan will be partnering on the Pakistan@100 Initiative, a World Bank-led analytical study on Pakistan’s long-term development vision and path as it turns 100 in 2047.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr S. Sohail H. Naqvi, Ignite CEO Yusuf Hussain, NIC Lahore Director Faisal Jalil Sher Jan, renowned entrepreneur and LUMS Pro-Chancellor Syed Babar Ali, Fatima Ventures CEO Ali Mukhtar and 47 Ventures Investment Country Director Khurram Zafar attended the ceremony.
LAHORE:13July: The Punjab Commission on Status of Women’s annual summer internship programme started in collaboration with Social Enterprise Development Centre (SEDC) at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and Lahore Students Union (LSU). This programme will continue for two weeks and currently includes eight interns from different universities and colleges within Pakistan and abroad.

He said, “We actively work on motor loads control, a mechanism which regulates the flow of electricity, and drive capabilities.”
LAHORE:May 16:A team at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is working to bring energy efficient, environment friendly solutions to Pakistan, which can potentially help alleviate the energy crisis in the country. The forward-looking project called the Energy and Power Systems Cluster is based at the LUMS Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering and headed by Electrical Engineering Department Associate Professor Nauman Ahmad Zaffar, who is also the Director of project.
