9th convocation of the University of Veterinary Quality education priority: minister

LAHORE:December 28: The 9th convocation of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) was held here on Wednesday. Pro-Chancellor/Punjab Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development Asif Saeed Manais chaired the convocation in which 1,256 graduates were conferred degrees and 67 position-holders awarded medals. Out of the graduating students, 252 were DVMs, 282 BS (Hons), 83 Pharm-D, 50 doctors of Nutrition and Dietetics (DND), 40 MBAs, 20 MBF, 36 BBA (Hons), 157 MSc, 311 MPhil and 25 PhDs.

Schools break for winter

Lahore:December 24: The government's schools and colleges in the capital city closed on Saturday for winter vacation giving students a week break from studies. The Federal Directorate of Education had announced the closure of schools and colleges overseen by it from December 23 to 31 on account of winter vacation.

SLS marks ‘Creativity and Innovation Week’

Rawalpindi:December 24: All campuses of Sadeeqa’s Learning System (SLS) Montessori and High School celebrated Creativity and Innovation Week, says a press release. The week-long affair enabled students to do something entirely on their own or in groups by using their own ideas and imagination. The Harley Street Montessori branch students made small DIY projects and other activities, which they later presented in front of their class fellows and parents.

Students showcase their talent at Robotics Expo

LAHORE :December 24: The 7th Robotics Expo of the Information Technology University (ITU) was held here on Saturday in which third semester students showcased their 15 projects. Addressing the ceremony, US Consul General Elizabeth K. Trudeau said the expo was an excellent display of youth’s potential in innovative technological solutions. She said events like this provide a platform to get the youth out of their comfort zones and showcase their maximum potential.

384 degrees awarded in Beaconhouse National University

LAHORE :December 24: The 12th convocation of Beaconhouse National University (BNU) was held at the varsity’s Tarogil Campus on Saturday in which 384 graduates were awarded degrees. BNU Vice-Chancellor Shahid Hafiz Kardar presided over the ceremony while Board of Governors Chairperson Nasreen Mahmud Kasuri was the chief guest of the event. The board members Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri, Kasim Mahmud Kasuri, Dr Parvez Hassan, faculty members, graduating students and their parents were also present on the occasion.

Minister inaugurates National Incubation Center at LUMS

LAHORE:December 24: Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Anusha Rehman Khan on Saturday inaugurated the National Incubation Center (NIC) at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr S. Sohail H. Naqvi, Ignite CEO Yusuf Hussain, NIC Lahore Director Faisal Jalil Sher Jan, renowned entrepreneur and LUMS Pro-Chancellor Syed Babar Ali, Fatima Ventures CEO Ali Mukhtar and 47 Ventures Investment Country Director Khurram Zafar attended the ceremony.

University of Health Sciences BDS result 2017

Lahore:December 16: The University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Friday declared the result of first professional BDS annual examination 2017. Some 930 candidates from 14 affiliated dental colleges appeared in the examination out of which 609 passed. Mahnoor Zahra of FMH College got 618/700 marks and secured first position. Saba Nasir of Faisalabad Medical University, Faisalabad got 598/700 marks and secured second while Zoha Nasir of de'Montmorency College of Dentistry, Lahore got 596/700 marks and secured third position. Supplementary exams will commence on January 30, 2018.The news.

Work on new ITU building to start from 17th

LAHORE:December 16: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will perform the groundbreaking ceremony of a new building of Information Technology University (ITU) on Dec 17. According to a press release it will be a state of the art purpose-built main campus of Pakistan’s first research focused university being constructed at Lahore. The groundbreaking ceremony is being held on the first convocation of the Information Technology University in which the first batch of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science students of the Undergraduate Bachelors programme would be awarded degrees.

Cabinet Committee to look over VC appointments

LAHORE:16 December: A cabinet committee has been formed for the appointment of vice chancellors at eight public sector universities of the province. The committee, formed on the orders of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has been notified by the Punjab Higher Education Department (HED). According to the notification issued by the HED, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, the committee will look over the appointment process and deliberate over issues relating to public sector universities of the province.
