Punjab University staff concerned over land to Lesco

LAHORE:October 22:A delegation of Punjab University Academic Staff Association (PUASA) called on Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zaffar Mueen Nasar and expressed concerns over possible allotment of varsity’s land to Lesco for construction of a feeder. The delegation, led by President Javed Sami, informed VC that the teaching community would not allow allocation of varsity’s land to any institution other than academic purposes.The news.

Balochistan students visit Govt College University

Students demand end to rising cost of education

LAHORE:18 October:Students from different varsities of the city protested in solidarity with the students of the Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad and demanded an end to the rising cost of education in the country. The demonstration was organised by the Progressive Youth Alliance (PYA) outside the Lahore Press Club on Monday. Punjab University to probe controversial PhD admissions at ICS

Lahore:October 13:According to the MoU, PU would forward the credentials entered by students to NADRA and NADRA would send verification report against each data in a few days. Dr Nasir said that the MoU was a part of administration’s vision to introduce digital reforms in the university and replace obsolete existing system with the modern ones. Punjab University withholds canteen contracts

LAHORE :October 9:Abnormally high bids for some canteens of Punjab University (PU) has put the university administration in a fix which has now decided to withhold the process to award contracts, it is learnt. Through newspaper advertisements, the PU Resident Officer-1 had invited sealed bids for 25 different spots at the varsity including canteens, tuck shops, motor mechanic workshop, fast-food and juice and photocopy shops, etc. with October 6 as the closing date.

Punjab University awards five PhD degrees

LAHORE:October 3:The Punjab University (PU) awarded five PhD degrees on Monday to scholars in different fields. Mahwish Bashir was awarded the degree in the subject of Solid State physics Microelectronics/Nanotechnology after approval of her thesis entitled “Stabilisation of Zirconia Using Different Experimental Methods and their Applications.” At the same time, Marium Muhammad Hussain was given her doctorate in International Relations on her thesis entitled “Role of India in Afghanistan and the Changing Regional Security Scenario of South Asia: Implications for Pakistan (2001-2014)”.

UMT says no unaccredited course being taught at varsity

LAHORE:September 25: The University of Management and Technology (UMT) has rejected news times published in the print media that the varsity is offering some non-accredited degree programmes. In a statement, the varsity said that the Higher Education Department (HED) was not a major authority to give accreditation to the faculty, curriculum and degree programmes of both public and private institutions; rather the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) have had the rights to give accreditation.

Ex-VC’s autobiography to be launched today

LAHORE :September 25:The launching ceremony of the autobiography of University of Health Sciences (UHS), member board of governors and ex-Vice Chancellor, Prof Malik Hussain Mubbashar will be held on Monday (today) at the Shams Auditorium of the University. The autobiography “Meem Bashar” has been published by Sang-e-Meel Publications. Prof. Malik Hussain Mubbashar (Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Hilal-e-Imtiaz), who served as VC UHS from 2003 to 2012, has been recognized with the title ‘Professor Emeritus’ by the Syndicate of the University.
