Punjab University Ammar Jan had not been “fired” from job

LAHORE:19 April: The Punjab University has cleared its stance after it was accused of unjustly firing Dr Ammar Ali Jan from his teaching job, saying the professor was not a contractual or regular employee of the institute. It added that the he was “refrained” from teaching after information was received that he took part in “anti-state and undesirable activities”.

Prof Muhammad Afzal donated his personal library to GC University Lahore

Lahore:19 April: Eminent scientist Prof Dr Muhammad Afzal has donated his personal library comprised of valuable publications to the Government College University Lahore for the benefit of students and researchers. According to a press release issued Wednesday, Prof Dr Muhammad Afzal is currently Professor Emeritus at the University of Kuwait. His personal library had very valuable reference books, textbooks, journals, conference proceedings of different scientific subjects including microbiology, biotechnology, and bio-chemistry.

PU Hailey College dinner to greet newly enrolled students of MBA

Punjab University demanded reinstatement of teacher Dr Ammar Ali Jan

LAHORE:April 18: Students from Punjab University (PU) Institute of Social & Cultural Studies (ISCS) on Tuesday held a demonstration at New Campus and demanded reinstatement of their teacher Dr Ammar Ali Jan. Reportedly, the faculty member was fired by the PU administration a couple of days back for allegedly instigating the university students vis-à-vis recent political and social developments in the country.

LAHORE:April 14: Vice-chancellors (VCs) of public universities of Punjab on Friday constituted the first vice-chancellors’ committee of Punjab. The committee besides deliberating upon individual matters of universities, would discuss issues related to financial, academic & administrative, quality enhancement, standardisation & internationalisation of higher education reforms and present the recommendations through Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) to the Punjab government.

LAHORE:April 12: Punjab University BA/BSc Part-I annual examinations 2018 will commence from April 19, for which roll number slips have been dispatched to all candidates through registered mail on their addresses. Lahore: Punjab University (PU) Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS) organised a seminar on ‘Drug Addiction and Abuse: Treatment and Prevention”. Prof Dr Rubina Zakar presided over the ceremony while Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH) Director Syed Zulfiqar Hussain and counselor for drug addicts Hamid Hashmi were the chief guests. LAHORE:April 6: Auqaf and Religious Affairs Minister Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri has said that it is the youth who will determine the road map of the nation. Addressing students at a debate competition organised by Punjab Revenue Authority on the topic ”Tax Evasion is an Impediment to Growth” as a forerunner of Tax Day celebrations, he appreciated PRA’s effort for introducing such healthy competition as part of its Tax Day celebrations on a topic which he considered was need of the hour. He asked the PRA to introduce such more healthy activities.
