Workshop at GC University concludes

LAHORE:November 24: A three-day training workshop on “Outcome Based Education in Higher Education Institutions” concluded at the Government College University (GCU) on Thursday. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah chaired the concluding session. GCU Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) organised the workshop for young faculty members of GCU which was financed by the Learning Innovation Division, Higher Education Commission.

Promotion of university level inventions urged

LAHORE :November 24:Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Moeen Nasir has urged the scientists to help society and people benefit from the inventions taking place at the universities. He was addressing the first three-day international meeting of scientists “Science and Society" organised by PU's Centre for High Energy Physics (CHEP) here on Thursday. CHEP Director Dr Bilal Masud, faculty members, scientists and students were also present.

Prof M.Naeem Khan awarded YKSUG Visiting Professor Fellowship Award

LAHORE:November 25: Punjab University (PU) former Registrar and Faculty of Life Sciences Dean Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan has been awarded the “YKSUG Visiting Professor Fellowship Award” by the “Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno” (YKSUG) for the year 2017. According to the Ministry of Education, the fellowship is intended to improve bilateral academic linkages and research collaborations between Belarusian and Pakistani universities.

NAB summons PU ex-VC’s wife in her appointment case

LAHORE:November 25: National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Lahore has summoned Associate Professor Shazia Qureshi, wife of Punjab University's former vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, for December 4 to record her statement regarding her appointment, The News has learnt. According to a notice issued to Ms Shazia on November 23, the Bureau has asked her to appear before the Deputy Director IW-III of NAB named Iqbal Hassan on December 4 as investigations against her husband and other PU officials are underway.

Allama Iqbal’s philosophy lauded at Government College University

LAHORE :23 November:The philosophy of Allama Muhammad Iqbal will always remain a guiding principle for the humanity, but, it’s unfortunate that the younger generation of Pakistan does not know much about it. Death Anniversary: GCU remembers Prof Abdus Salam

LAHORE:22 November: Prof Abdus Salam, the Nobel laureate and Old Ravian, breathed his last 21 years ago on Thursday November 21, 1996 after a protracted illness. With his sad demise, not only Pakistan but also the entire third world lost a great scientist and humble human being. A seminar was organised on Tuesday at his alma mater, Government College University (GCU) Lahore, to pay glowing tributes to Prof Salam for his contributions in the fields of mathematics and physics and the role he played for development of science in Pakistan.

Private universities: Government to decide on unaccredited programmes

Lahore:November 20:He said that ICT had significantly contributed to health and primary education sectors, which needed to be extended to higher education as well. Private sector was gaining profits out of education activity and their quality was questionable, he added. Punjab University library orientation

LAHORE :November 14:The Punjab University library has started its annual ‘library orientation programme’ for freshers. While addressing the ceremony, PU Chief Librarian Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani said library was to satisfy the need of all students especially the researchers. He assured continuity and enrichment of the orientation programme. “The library would organise six programmes on daily basis and to accommodate freshers the programmes would continue until January 2018”, he added.The news.
