Punjab University awards five PhD degrees

LAHORE:October 3:The Punjab University (PU) awarded five PhD degrees on Monday to scholars in different fields. Mahwish Bashir was awarded the degree in the subject of Solid State physics Microelectronics/Nanotechnology after approval of her thesis entitled “Stabilisation of Zirconia Using Different Experimental Methods and their Applications.” At the same time, Marium Muhammad Hussain was given her doctorate in International Relations on her thesis entitled “Role of India in Afghanistan and the Changing Regional Security Scenario of South Asia: Implications for Pakistan (2001-2014)”.

UMT says no unaccredited course being taught at varsity

LAHORE:September 25: The University of Management and Technology (UMT) has rejected news times published in the print media that the varsity is offering some non-accredited degree programmes. In a statement, the varsity said that the Higher Education Department (HED) was not a major authority to give accreditation to the faculty, curriculum and degree programmes of both public and private institutions; rather the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) have had the rights to give accreditation.

Ex-VC’s autobiography to be launched today

LAHORE :September 25:The launching ceremony of the autobiography of University of Health Sciences (UHS), member board of governors and ex-Vice Chancellor, Prof Malik Hussain Mubbashar will be held on Monday (today) at the Shams Auditorium of the University. The autobiography “Meem Bashar” has been published by Sang-e-Meel Publications. Prof. Malik Hussain Mubbashar (Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Hilal-e-Imtiaz), who served as VC UHS from 2003 to 2012, has been recognized with the title ‘Professor Emeritus’ by the Syndicate of the University.

University of Education seminar for HEC:

Lahore:September 22: University of Education (UOE) Thursday organised a seminar in connection with 15 years celebrations of the establishment of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. According to a press release, speaking on the occasion, University of Education Vice-Chancellor Dr Rauf-i-Azam lauded the achievements of HEC during the last 15 years and said because of HEC, higher education was being spread in Pakistan at a great speed.

Lahore:September 22: Punjab University Examinations Department has declared the results of BS Home Economics Part-I (first year) Annual Examination 2017, MCom Part-I (first year) Second Annual 2016, MCom Part-II (second year) Second Annual 2016 and BEd Annual 2017. Punjab University special students exempted from fee

LAHORE :Punjab University today announced an exemption of fee (tuition fee, admission fee and registration fee), dues, (university and departmental dues) hostel room and hostel admission fee for special students. Voice Chancellor Dr Zafar Moeen Nasir said in a press note that special students are also a part of our society and we need to pay special attention to them. Meanwhile, the PU Examinations Department has issued the schedule for submission of admission fee and forms for B.Com Part-I and II second annual examinations 2017.

Admissions to Punjab University will be on merit: VC

LAHORE:19 september: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Moeen Nasir has said that the university will ensure that admissions in all disciplines are strictly on merit basis and maximum facilities will be provided to the candidates seeking admissions to the Punjab University. He was addressing the admission stalls inauguration ceremony at the New Campus on Monday. Lahore College for Women University MoU to quality education

Lahore:September 17: Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) and Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Saturday signed an MoU for faculty development and conferences to promote quality education.
