Punjab University observing a sit-in outside vice chancellor's office

LAHORE:March 10:A number of Pashtun and Baloch students of Punjab University (PU) have been observing a sit-in outside the vice chancellor's office for the last couple of days, demanding the administration restore their fellows expelled recently. The students alleged the PU administration of victimising Pashtun and Baloch students. However, the PU spokesman said action against the students who were found involved in the incidence of violence on January 22 was taken according to the law, rules and regulations, without any prejudice.

Information Technology University opens a three-day event

Punjab University to install specified biometric gates at boys’ hostels

LAHORE:March 7: Punjab University (PU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zakria Zakar Tuesday instructed officials to install specified biometric gates at boys’ hostels to maintain strict monitoring. He said this while chairing a meeting of hostel wardens and superintendents. Hall Council Chairman Prof Dr Iqbal Chawla, Registrar Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan, Hall Council Secretary Iqbal Khalil, IT Centre Director Imran Qureshi and other officials were present. The meeting decided to made structural changes to eradicate illegal occupancy from hostels.

GC University Political Science Dept produced as many as five PhDs

LAHORE: The alumni reunion of Government College University Political Science Department (GCU-PSD) was held here on Sunday evening. The reunion was marked by a musical performance of a little Chinese girl, Lee Jai, who mesmerised the audience by singing national songs of Pakistan in Urdu language. Post Graduate Medical university Annual Scientific Symposium

LAHORE:February 27: Punjab Minister for Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gillani has hoped that Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) would be given status of medical university and he would support this too. He expressed this while addressing Annual Scientific Symposium of PGMI held here at Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences of Lahore General Hospital on Monday, according to a handout issued here. Principal, PGMI, Prof Ghiasun Nabi Tayyab, Prof Agha Shabbir Ali, MS Dr Mahmood Salahuddin, faculty members, medical experts and students were present in a large number.

Tehran University and Government College University sign MoU

LAHORE:February 24: Government College University (GCU) Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with University of Tehran, Iran for academic and research cooperation in Urdu literature. Government College University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah and University of Tehran Department of Urdu literature Chairperson Dr Muhammad Kiou Marsi signed the accord. GCU Dean Faculty of Languages Prof Dr Iqbal Shahid, Urdu Department Chairperson Dr Khalid Sanjrani and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Punjab University Urdu and English serious debate competition

Lahore:February 24:Punjab University students participated in various competitions organised at different institutions and won prominent positions. Punjab University students including Yasir Waseem and Rukh-e-Noor got second positions in Urdu humorous debate and English serious debate competition respectively in All Pakistan Bilingual Declamation Contest.

PEEP signed an agreement with Barani Agricultural Research Chakwal

LAHORE:February 23: USAID’s Punjab Enabling Environment Project (PEEP) signed an agreement with Barani Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Chakwal to establish a Centre of Excellence for Olive Research and Training.
