Punjab University Centre for South Asian Studies Seminar

Lahore:05 April: Punjab University Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) and Department of Political Science will organise a seminar on “A Reflection on Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir” on Thursday (today) at 2:30pm in the seminar hall of CSAS. Ms Mishal Malik, w/o Yasin Malik (JKLF), will address on the occasion. Meanwhile, CSAS will also organize another seminar on “Pakistan Maritime Affairs: Prospects & Challenges” at 12 noon in which Pakistan Navy’s former Commodore SM Shahzad will be keynote speaker.The news.

Punjab University Kashmir solidarity walk

Lahore:05 April: Punjab University’s Centre for South Asian Studies and Department of Political Science organised a rally to express solidarity with the people of Indian Held Kashmir (IHK). Department of Political Science Chairperson Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid, Academic Staff Association President Dr Mahboob Hussain, faculty members and students were present on the occasion. The rally was started from Department of Political Science and concluded outside Faisal Auditorium. The participants were chanting slogans against Indian brutalities on killing of innocent Kashmiris.

Major university teachers association announced week-long protest

LAHORE:03 April: The major university teachers’ association announced a week-long protest against the newly-adopted criteria of appointing vice-chancellors in Punjab. The Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) announced that it will observe ‘Black Week’ from Tuesday (today) against the government’s decision and faculty members will perform their duties while wearing black armbands in protest.

Punjab University two-day training workshop of Library Professionals

Lahore:01April: Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairperson Prof Dr Nizam-ud-Din Saturday said library professionals must abreast themselves with the emerging trends of information and communication management to boost efficacy and professionalism. He was addressing the concluding ceremony of two-day training workshop on "Capacity Building of Library Professionals" at Punjab University (PU). The workshop was aimed to enhance the communication and leadership skills. Heads of different public sector libraries of Punjab attended the workshop.

LAHORE :31 March: Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin has said the concept of libraries has changed in the modern world and traditional system of libraries must be replaced with “cybraries” containing multi-media facilities. He said this while addressing the launching ceremony of PHEC’s newly initiated project “Capacity Building of University Librarians of Punjab” at Punjab University Library here Friday.

Lahore College Women University a ceremony to artist Shahzia Sikander

LAHORE:March 31: Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) Friday organised a ceremony to honour Pakistani-American artist Shahzia Sikander. According to a press release, LCWU’s Institute of Visual Arts and Design (IVAD) hosted the event. Vice-Chancellor Dr Uzma Qureshi, faculty members and students attended the event. University of Education held a seminar on “Engaging Youth

LAHORE: 30 March: A national level organisation, working on youth development, in collaboration with University of Education (UE), Lahore and Oxfam Pakistan held a seminar on “Engaging Youth for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. The seminar was organised to provide orientation and awareness to youths about the SDGs specifically in the context of Pakistan. The topics that were brought into discussion were mainly three SDGs, which were SDG-5 (Gender Equality), SDG-8 (Sustained, Inclusive and Sustainable Growth) and SDG-16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) respectively.

Punjab University and NEU signed an MoU for doctoral programme

LAHORE:27 MARCH: Punjab University and China’s Northeastern University (NEU) on Monday signed an MoU for launching joint doctoral programme. According to the MoU, the joint training programme would be launched in PhD in History and both parties would jointly recruit the qualified postgraduate students from China. In the four-year programme, the students would spend first year in Punjab University to complete the basic course and they would spend next three years to do research in NEU, which is ranked among top 40 universities out of 500 universities in China.
