Naqsh School of Arts branch opens

LAHORE:12 November:Keeping in view the desire of elite class of society, Naqsh School of Arts inaugurated its branch at Packages Mall with the exhibition of Calligraphy Art on Sunday. Mrs Perwin Babar Ali was the chief guest at the ceremony. Founder of Babar Ali Foundation Syed Babar Ali and his daughter Henna were the guests of honour. Naqsh School of Arts Principal Afroza Sarmad Khan, her husband former Additional IG Sarmad Saeed Khan, art teachers, students and people from different walks of society attended the ceremony.

Government College University deans

Lahore:12 November:The Punjab government has appointed two deans at the Government College University (GCU) Lahore. The Higher Education Department has issued notifications after the approval of Chancellor and Punjab Governor in this regard. Dr Ahmad Adnan, Professor of Chemistry, has been appointed as Dean, Faculty of Chemistry and Life Sciences while Dr Riaz Ahmad, Professor of Physics, as Dean, Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences.The news.

Punjab University teachers visit Allama Iqbal’s mausoleum

LAHORE : A delegation of Punjab University faculty members and officers led by Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad visited the mausoleum of Allama Muhammad Iqbal here on Saturday. Call to promote Allama Iqbal’s philosophy

LAHORE : Pakistan can be strengthened by promoting the philosophy of Alama Muhammad Iqbal, said Tehreek-e-Nifaz Urdu President and educational expert Professor Afsheen Sheharyar here on Saturday. Addressing on the occasion 142th birth anniversary of Alama Iqbal, she said training of youths on ideological basis was necessary. She demanded the government implement Urdu as an official language.

Efforts on to achieve 100pc literacy by 2030’

LAHORE:09 November:Punjab Minister for Literacy and Non-Formal Education Rashid Hafeez has said that the Punjab government provided increased resources to modernise the non-formal education sector and added that every possible effort would be made to achieve the goal of 100 per cent literacy by the year 2030. While chairing a meeting of university professors about new interventions in literacy and basic education sector at a private institution of higher education, the minister briefed about the steps taken by the Punjab government in this regard.

First merit list of MBBS, BDS admission in UHS

LAHORE:09 November:University of Health Sciences (UHS), Friday, issued the first selection list of candidates admitted to MBBS and BDS programme in public sector medical and dental colleges of the Punjab. The last merit for MBBS remained 91.5455 and that for BDS 93.5000 per cent. Last year, this merit was 89.1485 and 89.0455 per cent respectively. The merit has been calculated as per the weightage formula of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), adding 50 percent of intermediate and 50 percent of admission test marks.

Lahore College for Women University’ holds Mushaira on Kashmir

Tevta inks MoU on training

LAHORE:06 November:Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) and an e-commerce organisation, signed a memorandum of understanding to extend virtual assistant training to the selected Tevta students for enabling them to carry out independent online trade through international digital platforms. The MoU was signed by Tevta Chairperson Ali Salman Siddique and the CEO of the e-commerce organisation, Kashif Ali Sheikh, here on Tuesday.

Punjab University to set up centre for advanced materials

LAHORE:06 November:Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad Akhtar has said that there is a need to remove missing connection between science and engineering subjects in universities to address the challenges being faced by the country in science and technology. He was addressing the inaugural session of an international symposium, ‘Advanced Energy Storage Materials’, organised by the Department of Physics here on Tuesday. He said PU would establish Centre for Advanced Materials to remove gap between science and engineering.

Children’s Art contest winners get prizes

LAHORE:05 November:The children’s art competition titled “Freedom to Express Art’s prize distribution was held here Monday which was attended by children and their parents, at Alhamra Art Gallery, The Mall. The competition was organised to highlight the children’s painting talent from more than 100 schools across the province in which around 300 artworks were put on display to showcase the art skills of children.
