King Edward Medical College, Lahore Old Student Obituary

Dr Shubbar Hasan, a senior doctor of Punjab Health Service, who retired as director of the World Health Organisation, passed away on Sunday morning. He qualified from King Edward Medical College, Lahore, in 1941. He is survived by four children, Dr Rumina Hasan, Ms Tanvir Zehra Hasan, Dr Fazal Hasan and Abbas Hasan. He was the elder brother of Dr Mubashir Hasan. His Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at 4-K, Gulberg 2, Main Boulevard Lahore, at 9am on Monday. Soyem will be on Tuesday between Asr and Maghreb prayers.The news.

Training course for principals

Lahore:July 11:A five-day training course on governance, finance and audit for the principals of government colleges will start at the University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Tuesday (tomorrow). According to a press release issued on Sunday, the course is being organised and funded by Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC). In first phase, 50 principals of public sector degree colleges will be provided training in financial matters.The news.

Wall of Kindness Set up by a Student in Lalazar

Rawalpindi:11 July: A Wall of Kindness (Deevar-e-Mehrbani) set up by a student in Lalazar area provided free of cost ration and clothes to some 200 families during the month of Ramazan with the help of donations given by the philanthropists.

Fahad Javaid, a student of Master of Business Administration and organizer of the Wall of Kindness, said he first started collecting donations from his family members then he approached his friends and finally his initiative got success due to overwhelming response from all these people.

Education, basic rights to teenage girls than early

Murree:11 July:A teenage youth group led the World Population Day advocacy walk here on Sunday afternoon from the General Post Office (GPO) through the Mall Road. Participated by the thousands, the motivational walk was organised by the Development Communications Network (Devcom-Pakistan), Islamabad Devcom Centennial Leo Club (IDCLC), Islamabad Crescent Lions Club (ICLC), Islamabad City Lions Club, and Islamabad Leo Club to mark the World Population Day. Theme of the walk was ‘investing in teenage girls’. Senior politician Ex-MNA Hanif Abbasi also joined the walk as a special guest.

Position holders return

Lahore:July 05:Position-holder students of metric intermediate, A-level and bachelor examinations on Monday returned to the country after a one-month study tour of Germany, UK and Sweden.

The students were received at Lahore Airport by Vice Chancellor Education University Rauf Azam, Additional Secretary Information Shahid Iqbal and Prof. Dr. Khalid Butt of Political Science Department of GC University. The students were also presented bouquets.

SLS High School Students win art Workshop

Rawalpindi:July 05:Two young artists from Sadeeqa’s Learning System (SLS) Montessori & High School won the Nukta Art workshop in Art Beat, The Little Art’s National Child Art Competition, says a press release.

Sarah Khan of grade 6, SLS New Lalazar campus and Fizza Haider of grade 4, SLS, Peshawar Road Junior branch won this workshop out of hundreds of student artist entries in this year’s competition. The eight day art workshop was held at the Nukta Studios under the guidance of Sajjad Akram, Artist and Assistant Professor at the National College of Arts, Rawalpindi.

Teachers ‘assured Transfer of Schools Temporarily Halted’

LahoreJuly 09:process of transfer of 13 middle and high schools to the Daanish School System has been put on a halt, a delegation of teachers’ union was told by Schools Education Special Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch at a recent meeting.

This was revealed in a statement issued on Friday by The Grand Teachers’ Alliance (GTA), an umbrella organisation including several factions of the Punjab Teachers’ Union.

The statement said that the government was reviewing its decision to convert the 13 schools.

A final decision in this regard would be reached soon, it added.

BISE Awards Scholarships to 100 Students

Lahore:July 03:Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore on Saturday announced that it had awarded Hijri scholarships to 100 students who performed exceptionally well in the Secondary School (Annual) Examination, 2015.

The scholarships include categories such as open merit, children of the BISE Lahore employees and teachers, those who secured highest marks in Islamiat (Compulsory) subject, Hafiz-e-Quran and special children.  The board’s spokesperson said the details of scholarship awardees were available on the website of Lahore Board.The news.

University of Engineering Lahore approves department Heads

Lahore:July 03:The Syndicate of University of Engineering and Technology (UET) has approved the names of chairmen for six academic departments of the university.

Prof Dr Nasir Hayat has been approved for the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Prof Dr Tahir Izhar for Electrical Engineering, Prof Dr Asif Ali Qasir for Polymer & Process Engineering, Prof Dr Akhalaq for Metallurgical and Metal Engineering, Prof Dr Muhammad Mushtaq for Mathematics and Prof Dr Sajjad Hayder for Environmental Engineering.
