Schools of future may only teach values

Lahore:20 January:A three-day event on the future of schooling, where writers, innovators, artists and people from different section of society would discuss the vision of schooling in future, kicked off with the theme ‘Seeking Inspiration and Equilibrium in a New Age’ on Friday. Speakers at the opening ceremony shared their view on the state of schooling in Pakistan today and what the future holds. Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony.

Students’ day Youth determine future of nation’

Lahore:20 January:Students determine the future of any nation, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday in his message on International Students’ Day marked on November 17 across the world. He said the purpose of celebrating this day was to highlight the importance of students and education in society. The Punjab government, he said, gave top priority to providing quality education. Shahbaz said funds of billions of rupees had been allocated for promotion of education in the province.

PU Teachers to get incentives based on performance

Lahore:19 January:Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir has said on the basis of a comprehensive policy, PU would be brought among top 500 universities of the world and it would play role in improving country’s economy. He was addressing a media briefing at university club on Wednesday. Dr Nasir said he wanted international recognition of the university and raise productivity. He said the university had taken strong notice of the Hostel No 1 incident and the impression of giving free hand to any student organisation was incorrect.

Punjab University MoU signed with a German Cmpany

Lahore:19 January: Punjab University College of Earth and Environmental Sciences has signed a memorandum of understanding with a German company to use rain for laboratories, cleanliness and gardening purpose after its filtration through a plant. In this regard, an MoU signing ceremony regarding the project titled “Rainwater Harvesting and Advance Technologies” was held at seminar room of the college in which PU VC Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir, CEES Principal Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, Fritz Poerschke from Germany, faculty members and a large number of students were present.

Zaeem summoned in Bahauddin Zakariya University Case

Lahore:January 18:University of EducationA Lahore High Court full bench headed by Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi on Tuesday summoned Provincial Minister Zaeem Qadri to explain his position in establishment of Lahore campus of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan. The bench was hearing a case about non-enrolment of students studied at disputed sub-campus of BZU in Lahore when it was transpired that a 2013 notification approving establishment of the sub-campus also carried signature of Zaeem Qadri, then special assistant to chief minister Punjab.
