One-year course: Punjab to train 16,000 security guards

Lahore:20 September :The Punjab government will train 16,000 security guards in one year to fight crime and terrorism across the province.

In the first phase, 2,000 guards have been enrolled in a five-week-long course in 15 cities, a statement issued by the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) said on Monday.

The training programme has been started on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to utilise the available manpower to overcome crime in the province.

Despite pressure, Pak-Turk schools won’t be shut

LAHORE:20 September:Clearing the ambiguities surrounding the closure of Pak-Turk Schools in Pakistan, the principal of the institute’s Raiwand branch has said the educational institutions will not be closed down on the pressure of the Turkish government.

“There is no chance of Pak-Turk Schools being closed down,” Raja Muhammad Asif said while speaking to journalists during a ceremony on Monday. “Changes in the administration have been made and the 28 Turkish principals working for the school chain all over the country have been replaced with locals.”

Punjab University Admissions

Lahore:September 20:Punjab University has started admissions in various disciplines including BSc (Hons) BS, BEd, BBIT, BFA, BCom, BBA, MA, MEd MSc, TET, MPA, MBA, MFA, MCom (3.5 year) MIM, MIOM and MBSM Morning & Self-Supporting (Afternoon/Replica/Evening) programmes for the academic year 2016-17. Tevta training for security Guards

Lahore:September 20:Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) has enrolled 2,000 individuals in 15 cities for security guards training through a five-week programme.

Tevta Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh while addressing a meeting on Monday said Tevta would train 16,000 security guards free of cost during one year. He added the training programme started on the direction of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

LHC allows literary festival in Daska

Lahore:September 20:The Lahore High Court on Monday ordered Sialkot district administration to grant permission to hold Benazir Literary Festival in Daska and assist the organisers.

Justice Shahid Karim issued this order on a petition moved through Advocate Raheel Kamran.

The counsel pleaded that the government was reluctant to allow holding of the annual literary festival in Daska on the pretext of security.

Sticking to principles: Merit is the key to progress, says Shahbaz

Lahore :September 19:Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Sunday the government was promoting merit in every sector.

“That is why students from disadvantaged background are securing top positions,” the chief minister told a youth delegation.

Sharif said such talented students would make Pakistan’s future bright. He said the government was providing all available resources to brighten the prospects for these children. “This has helped the country move forward,” the chief minister said.

Inter suppl exam from Oct 22

Lahore:September 19:Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) has announced the schedule for the intermediate supplementary examination, 2016.

Admission forms for the intermediate supplementary examination with single fee can be submitted by October 3. Last date to submit the forms with double fee is Oct 17 while the candidates can submit the forms with triple fee by Oct 12. The exam will start from Oct 22.

Merit Culture promoted in every sector of Punjab: CM

Lahore:September 19:Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the Punjab government has promoted merit culture in every sector of life and less-privileged students are obtaining positions due to its merit policy. Because of this merit policy, children of labourers and workers are taking lead over those of the elite by displaying outstanding performance in education field, he added.

Lahore:17 September :A special committee constituted by the chief minister to review the proposal of upward mobility and provision of proper service structure for 87 Directors Physical Education (DPEs) working in Commerce Wing of Higher Education Department and 32 DPEs working in Technical Wing of Tevta has recommended that these DPEs may be granted four-tier service structure.

Boys Outshine Girls in Inter Exam

Lahore:17 September: Boys outshone girls in the Intermediate Annual Examination 2016 of Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) as they bagged two top positions while the third position was shared by three students, including a girl.

    Lahore BISE Chairman Ch Muhammad Ismail announced the names of the high achievers during a press conference at the board’s office here on Friday.
