Lahore:December 05:Pakistan’s pressing need for a vibrant preventive strategy to combat the burden of diseases, eating up resources and causing preventable deaths especially among children prompted a dedicated group of doctors to produce a comprehensive document for schoolchildren to inculcate a preventive approach among the new generation to ward off fatal and crippling diseases.

PEEF allocates 74 scholarships to IIU

Lahore:December 05:The Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) has allocated 74 scholarships amounting to Rs18.8 million for the students of International Islamic University (IIU) Islamabad.

Allocated scholarships are part of PEEF’s new Master’s level scholarship programme under the title Shahbaz Sharif Merit Scholarships (SSMS) for the current academic year 2016-17.

A total of 1,000 fully funded scholarships shall be offered to the outstanding students enrolled in Masters, M Phil and MS degree programmes in top ranked universities of Pakistan.

School infrastructure: 1,100 classrooms to be built in Multan

Multan:December 04: Around 1,100 classrooms will be constructed at 650 primary and middle schools of Multan district.

This was announced by Multan Executive District Officer (EDO) Education Muhammad Ashfaq.

The government decided to build more classrooms in schools that did not have enough space to accommodate a large number of students.

Talking to The Express Tribune, he said EDOs of different districts of the province told the government that the number of sections has increased because more students were enrolled in primary classes.

PTEF will serve Pakistan’s Education Sector

 

Lahore:December 04:If the government takes any adverse action to change the management of schools run by the PakTurk Education Foundation (PTEF), no foreign or local non-governmental organisation will serve Pakistan’s education sector in future.

    This warning was raised by concerned parents, whose children are enrolled at PTEF schools, at a news conference at the Karachi Press Club on Saturday.

Lahore:December 03:The Family Medicine Education Centre (FMEC) will hold the 4th international annual conference “Family Doctors Con” in a local hotel in Lahore from December 10 and 11. Punjab Governor Malik Rafique Rajwana will inaugurate the conference while the Punjab minister for specialised healthcare and medical education will be the guest of honor.

    As the annual International Urdu Conference entered its ninth year on Thursday, everyone who laments the so-called demise of Urdu literature was asked to pick up recently published books instead of shaking their heads at the younger lot for not contributing.
