Lahore College University PhD admissions at Low Fee

Lahore:March 20:Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) has announced opening PhD admissions to 10 disciplines with reduced fee. According to a press release, LCWU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Rukhsana Kausar said minimising the fee would support research culture and attract more and more students to become research scholars. She directed the director research to immediately issue research grant for the existing research scholars of LCWU.

No compromise on quality of education

Lahore:March 20:Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed has said the HEC is strenuously working to promote higher education access in the country with its prime focus on quality of higher education. There is no compromise on the quality of education. The Vision 2025, a detail plan and strategy for better education system in Pakistan, has been prepared. Knowledge is being updated on daily bases instead of weekly bases, he expressed during his visit to Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Sunday.

Ahsan lays foundation of Kala Shah Kaku University of Health Sciences block

Lahore:19 March:Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Prof Ahsan Iqbal has said research and innovation have become a basic currency of the time. He said this while addressing the foundation stone-laying ceremony of new academic block, girls’ hostel and student service area, at Kala Shah Kaku campus of University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Saturday. Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, UHS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Junaid Sarfaraz, researchers, scientists, faculty members and a large number of students were also present.

3rd International Scientific Conference of Rawalpindi Medical College

Rawalpindi:19 March:The Institute of Psychiatry and WHO Collaborating Centre for Mental Health Research and Training at Benazir Bhutto Hospital in collaboration with the Department of Neurology at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad conducted a one-day workshop on assessment and management of Dementia titled ‘Forgetful Minds’ specifically with an aim to train participants on how to manage elderly psychiatric patients. The activity was organised as a preconference workshop for the 3rd International Scientific Conference of Rawalpindi Medical College scheduled to be held on March 24 and 25.

Media role in science stories discussed at Forman Christian College

Lahore:March 18:Forman Journalism Society and Alif Ailaan (Pakistan’s campaign for education reforms) organised a panel discussion “Media’s role in promoting science and scientific education in Pakistan” at Forman Christian College’s Mass Communication Department here on Friday. The discussion was aimed at disuccing the role media could play in highlighting science related stories.

A ceremony at GC university to distribute laptops in 38 MPhil

Lahore:March 18:A ceremony was held in Lahore sub-campus of a university to distribute laptops in 38 MPhil students under the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme here on Friday. Punjab Minister for Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gillani was the chief guest of the ceremony. Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairman Dr Mohammad Nizamuddin was also present.

Punjab University Officers promoted

Lahore:March 18:Ten senior most admin officers of Punjab University (PU) have been promoted to the posts of assistant registrar, assistant treasurer and assistant controller. Abdul Rehman, Muhammad Yaqoob and Khalid Mahmood have been promoted as assistant controller, Mushtaq Ahmad Tahir, Muhammad Younis, Muhammad Zia Ullah Ch and Gul Muhammad Khan as assistant treasurer, Khan Muhammad and Shoukat Ali as assistant registrar.
