Student convention ends

LAHORE:April 20: A three-day second International Students’ Convention 2019 organised by Inter-Universities Consortium, University of Education (UOE) and United Nations Centre of Information concluded here on Friday. The closing ceremony was held at the UOE’s Bank Road Campus which was attended by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam as chief guest. The vice-chancellors of many public and private sector universities, parliamentarians and other prominent scholars, educationists across the world attended the convention.

SLS students celebrate Earth Day

Rawalpindi :April 20: All campuses of Sadeeqa’s Learning System (SLS) Montessori & High School celebrated International Day of Mother Earth, says a press release. Schools not registered to be sealed Punjab School Education

LAHORE:19 April: Punjab School Education Department (SED) has given a one-week time to all non-registered schools to get registered with warning to seal the campuses for failing to get registered. Punjab Schools Minister Murad Raas in a tweet also warned that strict action would be taken, for failing to get registered. “Time to abide by the law,” he wrote. Through social media posts, School Education Department also asked the general public to come forward if they knew a non-registered school being run in their area.The news.

UMT Concern at higher education budget cut

LAHORE :19 April: University of Management and Technology (UMT) President Ibrahim Hasan Murad has said that the budget reduction has resulted in a financial panic for academia and will bring students on streets. In a press release, the UMT president said the future of youth was at stake as the recurring budget of the higher education sector was facing serious deficit of more than Rs 25 billion. The HEC and govt should look into the matter and take steps to avoid any untoward situation, he added.

Punjab University NH&MP jointly launched “Road Safety campaign

Lahore:17 April:Punjab University (PU) and National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) jointly launched “Road Safety on Wheel” campaign here on Tuesday to create awareness among the people about their safe travel. PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad, NH&MP DIG Ahmad Arsalan Malik and other officials were present on the occasion. Under the campaign, road safety awareness messages were displayed on all PU buses.

PU teacher gets contempt notice for arrested Teacher

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued a contempt of court notice to a Punjab University (PU) teacher and got her arrested after she started crying loudly during the hearing of a case disrupting the court proceedings. Ms Khujista Rehan, an assistant professor, had been in litigation with her fellow teachers at the university accusing them of running a vilification campaign against her in a Whatsapp group.

Rawalpindi Indus Valley School students 800 trees planted

Rawalpindi:14 April: Students of Grades 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Indus Valley School of Learning, Rawalpindi, travelled to Shahpur Dam, along with some teachers, and planted 800 trees there, along the fringes of the dam. The plantation this year was done in collaboration with the National Logistics Cell, represented by Col. Nawab Dogar. Also present were Faisal Anwar, Consultant, Hassaan, and Raheel Adnan. It was rather a hot day, but the kids braved the sun and participated wholeheartedly in planting the saplings.

Punjab University spring recess starts

LAHORE:April 13: Punjab University teaching departments, institutes, centres and constituent colleges/ schools will remain close for Spring Recess from April 15 to April 23. The university did not observe the spring break last year. A spokesperson for the university said spring recess was observed in the year 2017 as well. To a question he said spring recess was mentioned in the PU academic calendar and it was upon the university administration to decide to observe the same or not.The news.
