Punjab University date sheets of Various Exams

Lahore:October 15: Punjab University issued the date sheets of various examinations on Friday.

The exams include BA/BSc (Composite) Supplementary Examination, 2016, BA Supplementary Examination, 2016, for the Hearing Impaired Students and MSc Home Economics Part-II Second Annual Examination, 2015. Detailed date sheets are available at the PU website www.pu.edu.pk.The news.

PHEC Community Colleges

Lahore:October 15: Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairperson Prof Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin has said that PHEC in collaboration with Higher Education Department has taken the initiative of establishing community colleges on the pattern of  the United States, Canada and other developed countries to impart market-oriented skills education to students.

GC University scientists modify mosquito to Check Dengue

Lahore:October 15:Government College University (GCU) on Friday announced achieving a major breakthrough as its medical entomologists successfully genetically modified the Aedes aegypti mosquito in order to block the transmission of dengue virus to humans.

The varsity’s Zoology Department announced that “the research has good potential to completely eradicate the dengue vectors and virus from Pakistan, saving thousands of precious lives.”

University of Veterinary World Egg Day observed

Lahore:October 15:In order to create awareness about nutritional value of egg and its importance for the growth of human body, “World Egg Day” was observed at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) here on Friday.

The day was celebrated by organising various activities, including a seminar, a walk and egg dishes and egg shell model making contests, funny skits and poetry recitation etc.

1,000 students apply for paper remarking

Lahore:October 15:Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has received over 1,000 applications by candidates for rechecking of papers of Intermediate Part-I Annual Examination 2016.

A large number of students on Friday had protested against the BISE authorities for what they termed wrong marking. After the protest, the board authorities had offered free-of-cost rechecking of papers for which last date is October 25.

Lahore :October 14 : Hundreds of college students from all over Lahore took to the streets on Thursday to protest against the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), accusing it of “unjust marking” in the Intermediate Part 1 examinations.

The widespread protests forced Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take notice of the incident. He has directed the higher education secretary to thoroughly investigate the case and submit a report.

Tevta Interest-free loan to its 5,400 Graduates

Lahore:October 14 :Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) has given Rs 288 million interest-free loan to its 5,400 graduates through Akhuwwat.  

Tevta Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, chairing a meeting to review the progress of the loan scheme, said the scheme had been started on the directions of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to help the poor Tevta gradates to enable them to establish their own business or expand their existing businesses.

Virtual University Admission Date Extended

Lahore:October 14 :Virtual University (VU) has extended the date for submission of admission forms for different academic programmes. A VU spokesperson said the forms could now be submitted till October 21, 2016. The admission forms of diplomas, short courses, associate degree, bachelor's and master's degree programmes can also be obtained from the university’s website www.vu.edu.pk.The news.

PHEC Commission funding for post-Doctorate Fellowships

Lahore:October 14 : Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairperson Prof Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin has said the commission has recently finalised the funding for post-doctorate fellowships, foreign PhD and foreign master's scholarships as a part of its Foreign Faculty Development Programme.

    Addressing a meeting of senior management committee, he said PHEC was committed to enhancing the skills of academic faculty through various initiatives of the faculty development programme.

Seminar on how to become rich

LAHORE:October 08:Punjab University Hailey College of Banking and Finance (HCBF) organised a seminar on “How to Become Rich through Capital Markets.”

HCBF Principal Prof Dr Mubbsher Munawar Khan, Investment Banker and Capital Market Adviser Mir Muhammad Ali, Assistant Professor Iftikhar Ahmed, faculty members and students were present.

According to a press release, Prof Dr Mubbsher Munawar highlighted the contribution of HCBF to the financial sector.

He said th college was training its students through a blend of academic knowledge with practical exposure.
