Punjab Education Foundation Meeting

Lahore:15 July:Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) Managing Director Tariq Mahmood presided over weekly coordination meeting of programme directors at his office on Thursday.

The participants said PEF’s role in the success of three-year long ‘Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab’ was pivotal as it had made education first priority of the indigent strata. More than two million students in PEF partner schools are valuable asset of the society, the meeting observed.

Education will help end child labour

Lahore:13 July:The provincial government will provide basic education and additional skill development facilities to children employed at workshops, petrol pumps, hotels and restaurants across the province as part of its strategy to end child labour in these sectors.

This was stated by Minister for Labour and Human Resources Raja Ashfaq Sarwar at the first meeting of a steering committee on child labour issues on Tuesday.

He said appropriate stipends would also be paid to these students.

College Education not up to the Mark

Lahore:13 July:Punjab Higher Education Commission Chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin has said college education is not up to the mark in the country.

Success rate in bachelor’s programmes is hardly 30 to 35 per cent. No country can afford a failure rate as high as 60 per cent. He was addressing the inaugural session of a five-day training course for 150 principals of public colleges of the province at the University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Tuesday.

Lahore:13 July: Punjab University Law College administration has decided in principal to name recently restored old College Auditorium after renowned social worker late Abdus Sattar Edhi.

University of Veterinary Sciences Pays Tribute to Edhi

Lahore:13 July: University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, on Tuesday arranged a condolence reference for world’s charity icon Abdus Sattar Edhi.

According to a press release, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the reference in which a large number of UVAS employees from various departments participated. They prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of Edhi. They paid rich tributes to him for his indiscriminate services for the humanity.

Danish schools MD sacked

Lahore:13 July:The Punjab government has dismissed Danish Schools Authority Managing Director Col. (R) Ehtesham Anwar from service and handed over additional charge to Tariq Mahmood until further order.

In this regard, Services & General Administration Department has issued notification here Tuesday.

According to the notification, one month salary has been paid to Ehtesham Anwar with his dismissal from the service.

Girls outsmart boys in SSC Part II examination

Rawalpindi:July 13:The girls keeping their past traditions outsmarted boys by attaining top three positions in the Secondary School Certificate Part II Annual Examination held under the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) in March-April, 2016. The overall pass percentage of both regular and private candidates as well as ex-students remained 79.49 per cent.

BISP DG Visits Punjab Education Foundation

King Edward Medical College, Lahore Old Student Obituary

Dr Shubbar Hasan, a senior doctor of Punjab Health Service, who retired as director of the World Health Organisation, passed away on Sunday morning. He qualified from King Edward Medical College, Lahore, in 1941. He is survived by four children, Dr Rumina Hasan, Ms Tanvir Zehra Hasan, Dr Fazal Hasan and Abbas Hasan. He was the elder brother of Dr Mubashir Hasan. His Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at 4-K, Gulberg 2, Main Boulevard Lahore, at 9am on Monday. Soyem will be on Tuesday between Asr and Maghreb prayers.The news.
