Punjab University to adopt latest exam management system: VC

Lahore:January 12: Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir has said that the university would adopt the latest examination management system according to the needs of modern age. He said this during his visit to the Department of Examinations. Controller of Examinations Prof Dr Shahid Munir Dr Shahid Munir briefed the VC on strategic vision of the Examinations Department. Dr Zafar Mueen assured that the hardware and all financial support would be provided for the Punjab University Examination Management Information System (PUEMIS) .

Cracker blast in girls’ college leaves two injured

GUJRANWALA: 11 January:Two students of the Ismat Girls College, Dhansir Paeen, were injured seriously on Tuesday in a cracker blast in the classroom. The students were present in the class when some unidentified people threw a gift pack there. Being curious, when the students opened it, the package exploded with a bang leaving first year students Javeria and Oniba injured. Parents rushed to the college to see their daughters. Soon, police and Rescue 1122 personnel arrived at the scene. The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Punjab University VC for quality education

Lahore:January 11:Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir has said that he would focus on provision of quality education to the students and transform the university into internationally-recognised university, bringing it among the top 500 universities of the world. He was addressing a meeting of all deans, principals, directors, chairpersons and heads of departments at Al Raazi Hall here on Tuesday.

Reading hall named after Prof Sajjad Shaikh

Rawalpindi:January10:The main hall of Government Gordon College Library has been named after late Professor Sajjad Ahmed Shaikh, the former vice principal, a legendary teacher and a scholar of English, Urdu and Punjabi literatures, says a press release. In a ceremony held in the college library under the auspices of ‘Sajjad Shaikh Literary and Cultural Forum’, the widow of Professor Sajjad Shaikh formally launched ‘Sajjad Shaikh Reading Hall.’

Allama Iqbal Open University PTC Result

Islamabad:January10:Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Monday declared final results of PTC Programme for the Semester Spring 2016 and placed at the University’s Website. Intimation cards have been sent to all the concerned students at their postal address said a news release issued here. Result of B.Ed programmes will be announced within a week while results of Matriculation FA and BA programs would also be announced by the end of this month. Rests of ATTC and CT Programmes have already been declared.

Govt to improve higher education, says minister

LHC seeks summary of permission for BZU sub-campus

Lahore:January10:A full bench of the Lahore High Court has directed the Advocate General Punjab to present original summary of the Punjab government allowing setting up sub-campus of Bahauddin Zakariya University, Lahore without fulfilling the legal requirements. The bench led by Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi issued these directions while hearing the petition of students against the university administration after Higher Education Commission of Pakistan had declared it illegal and the campus was closed for the students.
