Students exchange programme introduced in 2016

Lahore:23 Jan:Film and TV shows from as many as 17 graduating students of the Department of Film and Television is currently on display at the National College of Arts. Fatimah Sattar’s film titled ‘Masadd’ (twisted strands of a palm tree), is inspired from her belief that all pre-set rules, morals and ethics are relative to circumstances. “Creating this specific story enabled me to put my character in a situation where I have to choose but in fact there is no choice at all,” she said.

‘Sheri Nashist’ held in honour of Guest Poets

Rawalpindi:January 23:Soon after the Ahle Qalam Conference was over, a group of local poetry lovers organised a ‘Sheri Nashist’ (poetic assembly), in which local poets shared poetry recitation with well known poets hailing from UK, Karachi and other places. ‘Sheri Nashist’ was attended by a bevy of Urdu poetry fans who immensely enjoyed the thought provoking poetry of some of the leading participants. There was a variety of themes with some poets flashing between the inspirational and commonplace. Unfolding their feelings in a striking language, they kept the audience enchanted.

Punjab University MA/MSc exams’ Admission Schedule

Lahore:January 23:Punjab University Examinations Department has issued the schedule for admission fee and forms for MA/MSc, Part-I and Part-II, annual examination 2017. For regular candidates, the last date for submission of MA/MSc, Part-I admission forms with single fee is 22-3-17 (by hand) and 8-3-17 (by post) while the forms can be submitted with double fee until 29-3-17 (by hand) and 15-3-17 (by post).

Two courses of private university not Approved

Lahore:January 22:A sub-committee of Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) did not approve Engineering and Pharmacy faculties of Hajvery University as available facilities, teaching faculty, and laboratories etc were not meeting the minimum criteria defined by the Punjab government. According to a press release PHEC Director General (Accreditation) Ms. Zia Batool said this during PHEC chairman’s meeting with senior management committee here on Friday.

Punjab University’s Hailey College of Commerce seminar

Lahore:January 22: Punjab University’s Hailey College of Commerce, in collaboration with State Bank of Pakistan, organised an awareness session on Islamic banking and finance on Saturday. PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir, Faculty of Commerce Dean and College Principal Dr Hassan Mobeen Alam, officers of SPB, including Javaid Ahmad Bhatti and Huma Mahmood Bukhari; students and a large number people from different fields were present.

Exam emergency’ in schools to improve results

Lahore:January 22:Punjab School Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan on Saturday announced 'exam emergency' in the province for three months, under which, students will be given additional lectures to perform better in their examinations. Addressing a press conference at Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB), the minister said the government was also contemplating revisiting schedule for summer and winter vacation keeping in view the changing weather patterns.

Rawalpindi Arid university signs MoU

Rawalpindi:January 21:Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid - Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) and ROHICON Academy for Research and Professional Excellence, Islamabad signed an MoU here on Thursday, to jointly carry out various activities in order to achieve overall national objectives related to Training, Capacity Building and Research in various areas of Development and Agriculture. Under this MoU, both parties will utilise University Capacity Building Centre for providing job/work place skills & career services to clients on intermittent basis.The news.
