Fakhar Zaman honoured

LAHORE:The organising committee of International Congress of Writers Intellectuals and Artists (ICWAI) has announced conferring Award For Literature, Culture and Peace for the year 2011 on noted writer, intellectual, novelist, playwright and Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Chairman Fakhar Zaman.

ICWAI is based in Holland. Its Chairman Asad Mufti said that the award given to Fakhar Zaman for his excellent literary and other achievements during last 15 years, from 1995-2011. ICWAI has branches in 100 countries.

Expressing his views, Fakhar Zaman said the award was an honour not only for him but also for Pakistan. He also expressed his gratitude for Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed that she took personal interest in the International Conference which Fakhar Zaman organised in 1995 under the auspicious of the PAL.

He also thanked the present government of Pakistan for its support for International Conference on Sufism and Peace held in 2010 by the PAL.

Meanwhile, Punjab University College of Art and Design on Friday organised a ceremony for renowned Architect and Cartoonist Prof Dr Shaukat Ali, recipient of Sitara-e-Imtiaz, here at Senate Hall Old Campus. Vice-Chancellor PU Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi, Amjad Islam Amjad, Cartoonist Javed Iqbal, In charge Fine Arts Government Postgraduate College Rawalpindi Mamoona Khan, Dr Ejaz Ahmad, Principal College of Art and Design Prof Dr Rahat Naveed Masood, faculty members and a many students attended the ceremony.The news
