Magisterial powers for BISE chairmen

Lahore: Secretary Home Shahid Khan on Thursday presided over an important meeting with regard to holding the intermediate annual examinations 2011 starting from May 7 in a peaceful and transparent manner.
Additional IG Police Muhammad Rafiq Hassan, Additional Secretary Higher Education Muhammad Akram Chaudhry, Deputy Inspector General of Headquarters (Prisons), Deputy Inspector General of Special Branch, Additional Inspector General of CID, Additional Secretary Schools Khalid Mehmood Ramay, Chairman Lahore Board Muhammad Akram Kashmiri and Chairman Faisalabad Board Mumtaz Ahmad Shah participated in the meeting.

The meeting pledged its determination that like before, better arrangements will also be made this year for holding examinations of intermediate.

The Police will be deputed outside each examination centre and special mobile squads of police will also supervise the examination centres.

1,929,000 candidates will take examination in 2005 examination centres during annual intermediate examination. Powers of first class magistrates have been delegated to Chairmen of Boards so that persons creating disturbance could be punished on the spot and booti mafia be eliminated. Similarly, control rooms have been set up at district level and concerned DCO, DPO, EDO Education and representative of board are its members.

Orders are being issued for imposing Section 144 around examination centres.

The Higher Education Department has set up monitoring centre at the Secretariat, which will submit reports to the Chief Minister Punjab regarding conducting of intermediate examination throughout the province on daily basis.
