UoE bans 38 students’ entry

LAHORE:THE University of Education’s administration has allegedly barred 38 students of the varsity from entering the campus for agitating and instigating other students to protest against the varsity administration.
It is learnt all the 38 students are from different sections of the varsity’s Division of Science and Technology.

It is pertinent to mention here that Division of Science and Technology was headed by Dr MA Pasha whose services were terminated by the varsity’s acting vice chancellor. The services of Dr Pasha’s wife Dr Shaheen Pasha, assistant professor of special education at the university, were also terminated owing to her alleged failure to perform well.

Ever since the termination of the two faculty members, the varsity has been witnessing unrest while it also faced a closure of almost a week. The university reopened on Monday and according to the students not less than 38 students of BS IT programme were allegedly barred from entering the varsity campus by issuing notices in this regard.

They alleged the UoE administration was allegedly victimising the students who had raised voice against unjust removal of the two faculty members. The students also alleged that the administration had commenced new semester without conducting examination of the previous semester.

UoE acting VC Prof Farhat Saleem was not available for comments. However, when contacted, the varsity’s acting Register Bashir Ahmed Ch said he had no information regarding issuance of notices to the students. He said he was out of the university and did not know whether the students had been served notices or notThe news
