LAHORE:PROVINCIAL Minister for Education Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that 26 selected government colleges are not being privatized, adding these colleges will work under the Board of Governors (BoGs) like Government College, FC College and Lahore College.
Addressing a seminar arranged by All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association (APPSMA), he further said those talking of common man were in fact opposing provision of quality education to the children of the poor. He said the impression being created by certain elements that these colleges were being privatised was not correct. He said administrative and financial autonomy was being given to these 26 colleges, adding no teacher would be removed from service.
The minister also claimed that fee at these colleges would not be increased. He said no increase was made in the fee of Queen Mary and Chuna Mandi Colleges, adding the reason for slight high fee in these colleges was a 10 percent increase made by the former government which had been stopped by the present government. APPSMA President Adeeb Jawadani said reforms should be introduced to improve the standard of education. The news
