LAHORE:YOUNG Doctors Association (YDA) has pointed out that Acyclovir injection being supplied to hospitals with the brand name Aclova used for treatment of viral infections in neurological disorders is uneffective, showing side-effects in patients and proving fatal in certain cases as well.
In a press release here on Sunday, YDA general secretary Dr Salman Kazmi said consultants of various teaching hospitals have reported that Acyclovir (Aclova) injections are non-effective and patients of viral encephalitis are not recovering and the brain infection is leading to permanent brain damage in patients and even deaths of children. Due to non-efficacy of the drug against viral infection in the brain, he said, the patients loose all senses.
SOP for medicines: THE Services Hospital, Lahore, administration has announced new standard operating procedure for the provision of hospital medicine to the patients.
According to a DGPR press release issued here on Sunday, the hospital spokesman said the new policy focused the availability of medicines for the admitted patients at their beds and issuance of medicines to the patients directly from the hospital store would no more be allowed.The news
