VC of IUB interview on radio Pakistan

Bahawalpur: 21 July: Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar has said that IUB has been playing a key role in the educational development of South Punjab and at present more than 50, 000 students of university faculties and affiliated colleges are reaping benefit through the provision of latest academic facilities. He expressed these views in an exclusive interview for Radio Pakistan Bahawalpur broadcast in its programme “Azam-e-Jawan”.
He said that the University College of Engineering and Technology has joined the top front line ranking institutions of engineering education of the country. Similarly the university Agriculture College has been imparting education in all sectors of agriculture and ranking wise two types of excellent quality cotton seed has been produced by the college experts. University Veterinary College is also playing an active role in the development of livestock sector in Cholistan and providing veterinary treatment facility in the far flung areas through mobile veterinary unit. He said that the new programs of Public Administration, Gender Studies and International Relations have been introduced in the university during previous year. Besides this, IUB will establish a medical college with the partnership of public and private sector, where the research on the treatment of endemic/tropical diseases will be carried out. About the ongoing development projects in the university the Vice Chancellor said that with the financial assistance of Higher Education Commission, the construction work of the buildings of Agriculture College, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar Campus has been started while due to non-availability of the funds the project of sports complex has been delayed and is waiting for the Punjab Government attention. With reference to the research and development process in the university he said that for the first time in the university about 20 research projects have been submitted to Punjab Agriculture Research Board, Higher Education Commission and Pakistan Science Foundation. In addition to this more than seventy teachers of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur are completing their PhD in various international universities. These teachers will not only promote the modern research in the university but the university ranking will also get a boost through this factor.
