LAHORE:September 27:The University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore, announced the result of Entrance Test 2013 for admission to medical and dental colleges of Punjab on Thursday.

A total of 41,677 candidates appeared in the entrance test held on September 22, out of which 19,063 scored more than 60 per cent marks. As many as 5644 scored 50 to 59 per cent marks whereas 5323 candidates secured 40 to 49 per cent marks. A total of 11,647 candidates scored less than 40 per cent marks.
According to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s regulations, the pass/fail criterion is abolished for the medical colleges’ entrance test.
Mashhood Iqbal s/o Malik Muhammad Iqbal from Multan district got the first position securing 1076/1100 marks whereas Shahwaz Ahmad s/o Riaz Ahmad of Faisalabad and Wajeeha Naveed d/o Naveed Zafar of Gujranwala district bagged second and third position by securing 1070/1100 and 1065/1100 marks respectively. The eligible candidates will compete for 3405 MBBS and 216 BDS seats in 20 public sector medical and dental colleges respectively. Besides, there are 3050 MBBS and 715 BDS seats available in 28 private sector medical and 12 private dental colleges of the province. The admission forms for government medical and dental colleges will be available from October 21 to October 26. All those candidates who have secured at least 80 per cent aggregate marks according to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s formula will be eligible to apply for admission on open merit basis. The last date for submission of application forms is October 26. The first selection list will be displayed on November 16 whereas classes in all public sector medical colleges of the Punjab will commence on December 02.
medical teachers: University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore has produced a first batch of 22 certified medical teachers. The certificate course in medical teaching was launched by UHS last year under the International Strategic Partnership in Research and Education (INSPIRE) project sponsored by the British Council. The facilitators from University of Liverpool, UK, trained the participants of the course which were selected from various medical colleges of Punjab.
Addressing the certificate distribution ceremony on Thursday, regional director of British Council Richard Weyers said the INSPIRE project aimed at strengthening the academic and research partnership between the UK and Pakistan. He told the media that currently 10 partnerships were running successfully across Pakistan. Moreover, 17 partnerships had been initiated under the second round of the project, in a variety of subject areas ranging from health and environment to energy and education, he added.
