UCP raised fund for Akhuwat

Lahore: 12 May: Akhuwat, a microfinance institute that specializes in interest-free loans, held a fund-raising dinner at the Royal Palm Hotel. The students of Faculty of Commerce University of Central Punjab under the umbrella of Research and Development Centre organized the whole event. With almost 800 attendees from businesses and government organizations, the dinner was a huge success and raised a substantial amount of donations for the organization. Mian Amer Mahmood, Chairman PGC also attended the dinner and highlighted the need for such activities to eradicate poverty. He admired the efforts of Akhuwat and ensured his support for the noble cause. Akhuwat’s Executive Director, Dr. Amjad Saqib, made a short speech regarding Akhuwat’s work and its vision to establish a poverty-free society. He then opened up the floor to a number of guests and experts. The audience showed lot of appreciation for the work done by Akhuwat. The dinner marked an important milestone for Akhuwat, as the organization is set to make another disbursement of loans in near future, raising the total amount of money lent to rupees one billion.
