UCP Parliamentary Debating Championship 2011

Lahore: 21 Nov: University of Central Punjab (UCP) Lahore has announced that The Debating Society organized UCP's first Parliamentary Debating competition on November 11, 12 and 13, 2011. 30 teams along with their supporters from LGS: Paragon, Phase V & Model Town, City School Ravi Campus, KIPS, SISA, SICAS, SALAMAT GIRLS, Beacon House: Johar Town, Defense, ALGC, Liberty & Garden Town, NGS, LUMS, FC College, LSE, GCU, UOL, UCL & UET participated. The most well reputed people in the debating circuit acted as Adjudicators to judge the competition. The competition had a total of 4 rounds of pool matches that took place on the 11th and 12th. Each round consisted of 15 matches running simultaneously in 15 of our class rooms. The Sports Center building was also utilized for some matches on the 12th. The formal dinner and musical program on the 12th was attended by Dr. Syed Tahir Hijazi, Pro-Rector UCP, Dr. Tabrez A. Shami, Prof. Khalil Muhammad, Dr. Adbul Aziz, Prof. Rasheed Khalid and Prof. Irfan Siddique. Each student was given a copy of the UCP prospectus along with an invitation to the next ‘YES’ event.
The semi finals and finals took place on Sunday the 13th followed by the prize distribution. A team from LGS Paragon won in the schools category and a team from LSE won in the university category. The students enjoyed their stay here, openly praised the campus and were appreciative of our hospitality.
