PU Students visit Margalla Hills National Park

Lahore: 10 Feb: Punjab University Department of Zoology MSc students visited Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP), Islamabad from February 3-4, as part of practicals in Animal Diversity, Ecology and Wildlife.
Department faculty member Associate Professor Dr Zulfiqar Ali delivered a lecture on the importance of “Wetlands of International Importance” to the students and acknowledged Ramsar Convention. On the instructions of Department Chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Akhtar, the students also made a short visit to Jehlum Campus of the varsity and planted flowering plants in the courtyards of the campus. MHNP is the only National Park in federal area where its flora and fauna is best representative of tropical and sub-tropical species. The zoologists made keen observations and studied the wild habitats while discussing the issues to manage it. Later, they visited the Rawal lake for bird-watching and a short training of how to use GPS in the field
