Lahore: 30 Nov: Punjab University (PU) has announced that The 117th annual Inter Collegiate Boys Atheltics Championship concluded on Thursday at New Campus in which Punjab University players clinched top positions in various games and secured first position in championship. A prize distribution ceremony was held at New Campus Ground in which Director Sports Prof Dr Mansoor Sarwar, Additional Director Sports Shamsa Hashmi and a large number of players participated. While addressing the prize distribution ceremony, Dr Mansoor Sarwar congratulated the winning players and said that sports kept healthy and active.
He said that as many as 12 colleges had participated in the championship and it was hoped that more colleges would participate in future. In competitions, Mr Ali Raza of Punjab University Teaching Department was declared best athlete. Punjab University Teaching Department stood first by securing 172 points, Akhwan Science College, Barki stood second by securing 110 point and Government College Jhang stood 3rd by securing 73 points. Later, trophies and cash prizes were distributed among the winning teams. It is pertinent to mention here that competitions of long jump, discus throw, 200 meters race, high jump, 5000 meters race, hammer throw, 400 meters hurdles, 200 meters race, 3,000 meters steeple chase, pole vault and 4*400 meters relay race were held in championship.
