Orientation week

LAHORE:August 28:AN orientation week (O-Week) kicked off at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on Monday.
A press release on Monday said 1007 undergraduates along with their parents attended it. This is organised each year for the new batch to welcome them to the university. Vice Chancellor, Dr Adil Najam; Rector, Abdul Razak Dawood and Pro-Chancellor, Syed Babar Ali along with deans and senior faculty of the three Schools including Suleman Dawood School of Business, Mushtaq Ahmed Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering welcomed them.
Dr Adil Najam urged the new students to try all subjects being offered by LUMS. He said LUMS was one of the few national universities of Pakistan with students coming from far-flung areas like Zhob, Gilgit, Dipalpur and Layyah. He said 60 per cent of this class would stay in hostels. He said 95 per cent have received 6 as from the O’levels stream and the average score of students from the Matric stream was 91.5 per cent.
Abdul Razak Dawood urged students and parents to value the 4 years at LUMS. Syed Babar Ali said students should also engage in physical activities to keep themselves fit and active. Thos session was followed by a tour of the campus for the new students and their parents. Later, a ‘Department Fair’ has also been organised where numerous stalls and exhibits have been put up.The news.
