LHC calls report on woman engineer’s frequent transfer: The Lahore High chief justice on Friday called a report and comments from the Housing and Works Ministry secretary and Public Works Department (PWD) director general on a writ petition filed by a woman executive engineer, questioning her frequent transfer.
Petitioner Mrs Humera Khurram through her counsel contended that she had been made a rolling stone by some people in the ministry as she was unable to discharge her duties due to frequent transfers.
She pointed out that she was promoted to the post of executive engineer on December 22, 2010 and posted at central civil division III, PWD, Lahore, through a departmental order issued on April 13, 2011.
Mrs Khan said she had to replace Zubair Ahmad, but he maneuvered to withdraw her notification. She apprised the authorities concerned about the situation. She said her protest remained fruitful as Zubair was directed to report to ministry in Islamabad while her posting orders were again issued on April 21. She assumed the charge on April 22 but to her utter surprise Zubair was again called back on May 16 while she was ordered to relieve the duties.
Petitioner contended that the order of May 16 was illegal. She said she was the only woman who got promotion the post of executive engineer. She said she had unblemished and unscathed career record.
She prayed that the impugned orders of May 16 might be set aside and she be allowed to assume the charge.
