Bahawalpur: 09 June: Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) has announced that Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur performed the ground breaking of construction project of a dairy farm attached with the University College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Baghdad-ul-Jadded Campus. About two hundred cattle will be kept in the enclave for milking and breeding. A poultry farm will also be established. The dairy farm equipped with the latest tools will provide practical training facility besides extending technical and medical facilities in the extensive areas of Cholistan. A testing laboratory will also be set up with the dairy farm for the diagnosis and research on epidemic and viral diseases of the cattle. It is worth mentioning that Pakistan Veterinary Council had pointed out the lack of dairy farm facility in the college. Hence, on the special directive of the Vice Chancellor measures were taken for the establishment of dairy farm. A mobile dispensary of UCV&AS has already been providing free medical treatment facility to the cattle in far flung areas of Cholistan and the outskirts of Bahawalpur.
