Lahore: 04 Aug: GC University Lahore signed a protocol on International Educational Cooperation with SIFA University, Izmir, Republic of Turkey and International Cooperative Agreement with GEDIZ University, Izmir, Turkey. These agreements were signed during the visit of a delegation of top positions-holders of Pakistan, led by GCU Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman. The delegation visited European Universities including UK, Germany and Turkey on the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
The purpose of the same was to enhance cooperation between SU and GCU Lahore for fostering advancement in teaching, research and cultural understanding of both institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman, Vice Chancellor, GCU Lahore said that collaboration with Turkish Universities shall open new vistas of academic and research exchange. Students and faculty exchange programmes between the universities shall strengthen educational ties as well as bond of friendship between the two countries' people.

As per this agreement, the two universities shall cooperate in education and research in areas of mutual interest. The collaboration shall help in establishing and managing research centers, institutes and other academic units about Turkey Studies and the Pakistan Studies at GC University Lahore and Sifa University, Izmir respectively. Faculty/ scholar exchange shall be for duration of one or two semesters for which the host institution shall provide office space, access to libraries and other facilities to exchange faculty and research scholars. However, exchange students shall be admitted as non-degree students for a maximum period of one academic year and tuition fees shall be waived for exchange students by the host institution. Both the Universities agreed to establish mutual scientific, educational and cultural programmes in order to assert and to consolidate relationships between the two universities and their countries. The cooperative activities to be covered by this agreement shall include exchange of faculty members and students, joint research activities, lectures via e-learning, sharing of academic material and other joint initiatives such as workshops, seminars, symposiums, etc.More on www.gcu.edu.pk
