GCU Lahore Laptop Distribution Ceremony for Disable Students

Lahore: 13 March: Government College University (GCU) Lahore has announced that Disability is not inability and physically-challenged should not be considered less competent, rather they are more hard working and dedicated than normal students, said Government College University Lahore Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman while addressing a laptop distribution for the physically-challenged students. Dean Faculty of Science and Technology Prof Dr Islam Ullah Khan and Registrar Anjum Nisar were also present.
Talking to the physically-challenged students, the Vice Chancellor appreciated the Punjab Chief Minister’s initiative of providing free-of-cost laptops to the university students, especially the physically-challenged. Prof Rahman demanded the Higher Education Commission to set up a special fund for developing facilities in public-sector universities for physically-challenged students, saying that GCU was the only university in Pakistan that had a state-of-the art Centre for Special Students (CSS).
He said that GCU had established CSS for its physically-challenged students from its own resources and also providing them free education. He said that people would be surprised to know that visually-impaired students were trained in using computers at GCU through screen-reading software.
