LAHORE: An exhibition of Umaira Hussain, titled “Resurrecting Sadequain”, was held at Shakir Ali Museum.
Umaira recreated the sketches and paintings of Sadequain with a touch of lampoon. Umaira has relied upon imitation with an ability to evoke the object being parodied closely enough to induce recognition, but with enough leeway and sideway drift to broaden or deflate its characteristics. She playfully aspires to efface the original style of Sadequain in her personal message, which represents themes and issues of her own postmodern age.
Talking to Daily Times, Umaira Hussain said that art at its best was an embodiment of a feeling or idea, which had a meaningful relevance for its viewer. She added, “I personally believe that Sadequain has been one of the very few artists who tried to convey a profound thought through his art works”. She further said that she found Sadequain’s treatment of human figure as a means of conveying his vantage point on human condition. The news.
