LAHORE:Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken strict notice of delay in announcement of matric exam result, ordering an inquiry against the authorities concerned of Lahore Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education.
Issuing instructions to immediately fix next date for the result, he directed the authorities concerned that all the eight boards of examinations of the province should declare the result on the given date.
During a meeting with provincial education minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Higher Education secretary Haseeb Athar and the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Lahore, chairman here on Friday, the chief minister said that declaration of examination results on the fixed date was of vital importance as any delay in this regard caused anxiety among students as well as their parents.
He also issued instructions to seek explanation from the Lahore Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education chairman and directed him to fix the date for announcement of complete and error-free matric results. He was also asked to include information technology experts should in the process. He said that computerization of examination system was a revolutionary step of the Punjab government which had helped in purging the system of the activities of corrupt mafia. The CM directed the Higher Education secretary to seek explanation from the Lahore Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education chairman for the delay in the announcement of results.

Land record: Shahbaz Sharif has said that Land Record Management and Information System is an excellent public service project which will help get rid of corrupt mafia and make transfer of properties transparent. Presiding over a meeting held to review the progress of Project of Land Record Computerization here on Friday, the chief minister issued orders to take all possible steps for early completion of the project. He ordered the formation of a committee, headed by the chief secretary, to review the progress of the project every month regularly, with directions to immediately remove all hurdles in the way.
The chief secretary, the Senior Member Board of Revenue, the Finance secretary, the Punjab Information Technology Board chairman, Information Technology (IT) experts and officers concerned attended the meeting. Project Director Land Record Management and Information System (LRMIS) Irfan Ellahi gave a detailed briefing on progress of the project.
Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that they were marching forward speedily for early completion of the public welfare project of land record computerization. He said that the public would get great relief with the completion of the project and the forgeries regarding registration and transfer of properties would be eliminated. He said that the operational staff for Land Record Computerization Project should be recruited through the Punjab Public Service Commission. After this, he added, the staff should undergo training and recommendations should be formulated for the purpose. He said that there should be no role of Patwaris and Tehsildars in this important project. He said that, after completion of the land record computerization project, the old, complicated and lethargic system of transfer of land and ‘Fard’ would be eliminated and the process of transfer of properties would also be transparent. He said that such a system should be evolved till the completion of Land Record Computerization Project as eliminates corruption in the process of transfer of properties and getting of ‘Fard’, asking the Senior Member Board of Revenue to evolve a strategy in this regard.
He said that citizens had to give bribe the officials concerned to take ‘Fards’. Terming the project important, he said the project might face some hurdles which should be removed after consultation with the experts.
He said that he should be informed within seven days about the timeframe regarding completion of this project in Lahore, Hafizabad, Lodhran and Kasur in the first phase whereas pace of work in other districts should be also accelerated.
Rejecting the proposed increase in the fee of transfer of properties and getting ‘Fard’, he said the matter would be considered after people were provided high quality services.
He appreciated the performance of Project Director Irfan Ellahi and his team for working speedily on the project.
Earlier, Irfan Ellahi, while briefing on the progress of the project, informed the meeting that work on the project was going on round the clock and all efforts were being made for its early completion. He said that the project of land record computerization was very transparent and those villages, the land record of which has been computerized, could be seen on the website. He said that the software for the project had been approved and work on the project in three Tehsils of Lahore had started.The news.
