Lahore:April 04:A ceremony was held at Government College University (GCU) on Tuesday to distribute laptops among 3,482 students under the Punjab government’s e-Youth Initiative.
PML-N MNA and Old Ravian Hamza Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest while GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleequr Rahman, faculty members and a large number of students and their parents attended.
Addressing the ceremony, Hamza Shahbaz said Pakistan would not have been facing loadshedding, price hike and unemployment had a huge amount of $ 10 billion not been wasted on the so-called war on terror and instead spent on education of youths.
He said students of today were leaders of future and they should keep in mind that after mistakes of 64 years there was no option but to win. He said distribution of 125,000 laptops on pure merit was not a scheme but a vision to empower the youth to change the destiny of Pakistan.
He said he was just 19 when his political rivals put him behind bars. “That was time when I resolved to bring about a meaningful change in lives of the voiceless masses of Pakistan,” he said. Hamza asked colleges and universities students to join hands with him to serve the masses by upgrading education, health and civic facilities in remote areas of the province. The news.
