SAHIWAL:16 April: A primary schoolteacher allegedly beat her five young students, locked them up in a room for hours and struck their names off the rolls on suspicion of their involvement in stealing her mobile phone.
A teacher of the Government Girls Primary School, Rehmat Shah village (Pakpattan) lost her mobile phone during last week.
She grilled her students Kalsoom Bilal, Mahnoor, Laiba, Aisha Riaz and Sana Farooq and allegedly locked them up in a room after beating them.
Going a step further, the teacher expelled the five students from the school.
Mr Bilal, the father of a student, claimed that he came to know that the teacher had found her mobile phone in a cupboard.
He filed a complaint with the District Education Department and demanded an inquiry into the matter.
The parents demanded action against the teacher and readmission of the students.Published in Dawn, April 15th, 2017.
