Surprise visits: 24 teachers suspended over absenteeism

FAISALABAD:October 3:Chief executive officer (CEO) Education has suspended 24 male and female teachers of four schools on charge of absence from duty without permission and without informing the department formally. A spokesperson for the education department said on Tuesday that Education CEO Javaid Chishti conducted surprise visits to four schools and found 24 teachers absent from duty. The teachers included Abdus Shakoor, Afzal, Ali Raza, Ghulam Mustafa, Riaz Ahmad, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Ajmal, Muhammad Yar, Muhammad Arshad, Allah Ditta, Maqsood Ahmad, Farzana Kausar, Shehnaz Begum, Sumera Rasool, Afshan Bibi, Saima Zafar, Razia Bibi, Nauman Akram, Nasreen Aslam, Nasreen Akhtar and Najma Akhtar. The said teachers were serving at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Rehmay Shah. Similarly, Muhsan Shah and Muhammad Abrar of Government High School Chak No 448-GB and Robina Kausar of Government Girls High School Chak No 467-GB were also suspended. The education CEO issued show-cause notices to the teachers for further action. Besides, the teachers had been called for personal hearing on September 28, the spokesman added. Earlier, Education CEO Javaid Iqbal Chishti suspended 12 teachers, including a headmistress for maintaining poor hygiene in schools in Faisalabad. The CEO visited various schools in Tandlianwala and Mamonkanjan areas and found poor sanitation condition in Government Girls Elementary School Chak No 548-GB and Government Girls Primary School No-2 in Mamonkanjan. Iqbal suspended 12 teachers, including the headmistress of Government Girls Elementary School. The suspended teachers were identified as Kalsoom Akhtar, Fateh Bibi, Sarwat Begum, Zarina Bibi, Umme Kalsoom, Musarrat Rehman, Rehana Kausar, Naseem Akhtar, Yasmeen Yousuf and Farhatun Nisa, etc.Published in The Express Tribune,
