Student, middle-aged man commit suicide

LAHORE:September 15: A student of intermediate committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan over refusal of marriage proposal in the limits of Shadbagh police on Thursday. The deceased, identified as Ali Hassnain, was a resident of Shadbagh. Police said that as per initial investigation, Ali wanted marry a girl of the same area. Police said that Ali's parents talked to the girl's parents, but they refused to give her hand in marriage. This disheartened Ali, who locked himself in a room and committed suicide. His family members broke the door and took him to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced him brought dead. Police handed over the body to his family after completing the legal procedure. In another incident, a 40-year-old man committed suicide by shooting himself over unknown reasons in the Ravi Road police precinct. The deceased, identified as Aman, hailed from Nankana Sahib and ran a vegetables business in the vegetable market of Ravi Road. He lived in a rented room in the same area. On the day of the incident, police said that some locals spotted his body lying in a pool of blood inside the room and informed the police. Police reached and informed the family members of the deceased. Police said that it seemed to be a case of suicide over some issue. Police also recovered a pistol from the scene. They collected circumstantial evidence and sent them to the forensic lab.Published in Daily Times, September 15th 2017.
