Sixth eRozgaar Centre at University of Punjab, Jhelum Campus

LAHORE :14 July: The sixth eRozgaar Centre at the University of Punjab, Jhelum Campus, will be inaugurated on Friday (today) by Information Technology University (ITU) founding Vice-Chancellor Umer Saif. The centre has been established under the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Youth Affairs, Sports, Archeology and Tourism Department's joint project “Chief Minister’s eRozgaar Programme.” It is the second centre being opened in north Punjab after a centre at UET, Taxila. The centres at University of Gujrat, Government College Women University Faisalabad, UET, Taxila and COMSATS, Sahiwal, have been successfully launched by PITB. These centres are active and classes have begun there. Punjab University VC Prof Dr Zaffar Mueen Nasar will also sign a memorandum of understanding on the occasion. PITB registered 33,105 applications from the young graduates. Selected candidates will be given three-month training in three phases for freelance self-employment in technical, non-technical and creative design areas at 40 training centres by high-profile trainers. Five centres are dedicated for women. In the first phase, 10,000 candidates selected on merit through a transparent process will be trained in three different batches in the current year. Since the concept and awareness of earning through the Internet and taking freelancing as a serious profession is very new in the smaller cities of Punjab, the programme has taken upon itself to guide and groom graduates from a variety of backgrounds. The training will enable the youth to generate income approximately from Rs 40,000 to Rs 80,000 per month while working from home. The news.
