LAHORE:03 February: On the directions of the Punjab government, the Punjab Schools Education Department (PSED) will celebrate Child Protection Day on 07 February across the province. Punjab Schools Secretary Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik directed the department to celebrate the occasion in an organised manner so the students could be sensitised on self-protection from anti-social elements. Different activities have been planned in the schools by the department in this regard. Pakistan Day: Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan presided over a meeting at Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board here on Friday. The meeting reviewed holding of celebrations with regard to Pakistan Day (23 March). The Minister said Pakistan Day celebrations would be celebrated across the province in a befitting manner. It would instil a sense of patriotism in the budding minds and would remind them the struggle and hardships our elders suffered through during the freedom movement of Pakistan, he said. A series of events has been planned for the celebrations. Fourteen floats will be brought out in different districts that will visit different institutions for 20 days. The activities of these floats will be broadcasted through internet and Pakistanis living across the globe will be able to participate in them through internet. The meeting was attended by representatives of information and culture, schools education, walled city authority Lahore, transport, energy and city district government. Speaker: Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan on Friday directed the departments to extend complete cooperation to the legislators to avoid any delay in the laying reports in PA. The issue was highlighted when Malik Arshad, a PML-N legislator, sought further time from the Chair in laying a report related to Food Department, on which, the Speaker asked the reason for that. The Chair was informed that the report was facing a delay because the departments concerned were not cooperating properly. On this, the Speaker warned that action would be taken against the department concerned if any complaints were made in future in this regard. Earlier, the question hour session related to Housing couldn’t take place due to the illness of minister concerned, Harun Sultan Bokhari.
