Lahore:04 February : Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review security arrangements on campus and steps taken by security staff.
According to a press release issued here Wednesday, PU Registrar Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Resident Officer 1 Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, Resident Officer 2 Malik Muhammad Zaheer, Chairman Hall Council Prof Dr Abid Hussain Chaudhry, Adviser to Vice-Chancellor Col (r) Ikramullah Khan, Chairman Department of Geography Prof Dr Abdul Ghaffar, Acting Treasurer Rao Muhammad Sharif, Chief Security Officer Major (r) Muhammad Saleem, Chief Engineer Chaudhry Muhammad Jamil and others were present on the occasion.
Giving a detailed briefing on security, Dr Sajid Rashid said that the administration would set up OP post at every 300 meters along the boundary wall. He said that around 400 CCTV cameras were already operational on campus while eight dome cameras were being installed for vigilant monitoring of the university. He said that more than 200 security guards had been trained in collaboration with Lahore police while the university had recently purchased weapons. He said that strict checking had been ensured at all the entry and exit points while patrolling along the boundary wall and other sensitive places had been enhanced.
sports gala: The concluding ceremony of sports gala of Punjab University College of Earth and Environmental Sciences will be held on Thursday (today) at 3 pm at the college’s lawns. According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan will participate in the concluding ceremony.
Kashmir Day: On the directions of the Punjab government, Punjab University will remain open on February 5 on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day.

Mock security drill: Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) conducted a mock security drill here on Wednesday to check the level of preparedness of Security and Safety Department of the university in tackling any emergency. According to a press release issued here Wednesday, the mock security exercise was conducted under the supervision of LCWU VC Dr Uzma Qureshi while University Registrar Uzma Batool, chief security officer Major (r) Iftikhar, director student affairs and other officials were also present. This mock security drill is a part of a commitment to ensure safety for the hundreds of students in the buildings, to avert harm by intruders who might fire guns or take other threatening actions. Since the terrorist attack in Charsadda, all the educational institutions are required to have an emergency preparedness plan for disruptive incidents. Talking to this scribe, Dr Uzma Qureshi said the primary objective of the rehearsal was to ensure a timely and coordinated response by all the students and teachers.The news.
