Lahore :05 February:Punjab University’s Institute of Education and Research (IER) first director Prof Dr Nasim Shaukat has said that teachers’ self concept regarding their profession is wrong as they think that a policeman is more dignified than them. Addressing fifth ceremony of compiling oral history of Punjab University at Al-Raazi Hall here on Thursday, she said that Institute of Education and Research was initially set up at Lawrence Road and was later shifted to the New Campus in 1962.

Dr Nasim Shaukat further said female Muslim students were dealt with discrimination in schools before partition. She said Two-Nation Theory was totally based on reality as she had experienced it at that time. She said Institute of Education and Research was founded by McDonald Lytton in 1961 when Americans launched some training programmes in Pakistan. She said in the beginning, there were no books at master’s level and students had to rely on lectures only. She said she had to face department politics and she could not become professor for 10 years despite she was eligible. However, she said, later she became professor and dean of the faculty.The news.
