Lahore:05 April: Punjab University’s Centre for South Asian Studies and Department of Political Science organised a rally to express solidarity with the people of Indian Held Kashmir (IHK). Department of Political Science Chairperson Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid, Academic Staff Association President Dr Mahboob Hussain, faculty members and students were present on the occasion. The rally was started from Department of Political Science and concluded outside Faisal Auditorium. The participants were chanting slogans against Indian brutalities on killing of innocent Kashmiris. Addressing the participants, Dr Umbreen said Kashmir was once lauded as the paradise on earth but because of Indian Army’s atrocities, it had become one of the most militarised regions in the world. She said India had used repressive state apparatus in IHK to suppress the voice of Kashmiris who were demanding their right of self-determination. She called upon the international community to intervene and play its role in resolving the enduring Kashmir dispute by involving Kashmiris as stakeholders between India and Pakistan.The news.
