Lahore:December 08:Punjab University Syndicate has approved the recommendations of the Academic Council according to which BA/BSc examinations will be held in two parts from 2016 and 2017.
According to notification issued by the PU Registrar, the BA/BSc two years (Pass Course) Examination has been divided/ split into Par-I & II having 400 marks each. All the regular students shall appear in Par-I and Part-II examinations separately from Annual Examinations 2016 and 2017 respectively. However, the late college and external/ private candidates will be allowed to appear in Part-I & Part-II Examinations separately or in both parts simultaneously from Annual Examinations 2017, if otherwise eligible. PU Controller of Exams Dr Shahid Munir said the part-wise examinations would benefit the candidates. Explaining the reasons behind change in exam pattern Dr Shahid said earlier any candidate failed in two subjects in BA/BSc was considered failed while now under the part-wise exams the candidates could now appear in supplementary exams.
Dr Shahid added by introducing part-wise exams the university had brought BA/BSc exams in line with matriculation and intermediate exams being held in parts. To a question, he agreed that the move would also help varsity generate some more revenue adding, however, conducting exam in two parts would also be a challenge for the exam department.The news.
